Cheba Hut "Toasted" Subs — Restaurant in Albuquerque

Had only ever been to the UNM one &in general am not too familiar w the Westside,&🤭blush full disclosure, i only stopped in on my way home cuz it was 11pm Saturday night i needed the restroom🤦🏻‍♀️. I didn't even know there was a Cheba Hut here, as i was Actual originally going to try Salt Yard ~as its late& the Salt Yard being one of the only places I knew of that was open right where I was. However, idk WHAT the deal w Salt Yard is, granted it's been a while, but they were closing/cleaning up&in general the place looks like it's under renovation currently or something 🤷🏻‍♀️ idk, but Salt Yards out of commission.&THANK GOODNESS 4 that, cuz i able to discover this Cheba Hut next door,&I've gots to say they've REALLY IMPRESSED ME! 👍🏻 *so the place was comfortably buzzing w ppl when I arrived@11pm, w a packed bar but there was still a few booths&tables free (but which quickly filled😉). &although they would have been more then gracious enough to allow me to use their facilities for just an appreciative reciprocated smile 😅, the deliciously intoxicating delectable aromas that filled the atmosphere was impossible to resist! However, i did have urgent business😶, so i order just a side off their 'Munchies'. Some pretzel🥨nuggest w a garlic butter dip, which did Not disappoint!! 😋 for just under $7w tax, i got a respectable size of Scrumptious pretzel bites cooked in 🧄🧈 paired w a different kind of honey🍯 mustard 🪔dip, that was unexpected & unique from the typical 🍯mustard🪔 dips one usually gets,& it was delightful. As now the bar had become rather crowded&I'd procured my tiny table up@the bar, i was enjoying the atmosphere& couldn't resist peeking@the bar list, which 🤯 i was not prepared for! As a sole patron of the UNM Cheba Hut, I was harboring low expectations when it came to desirable refreshments. for others like myself&not in the knowTHIS CHEBA HUTs GOT A FULL🍸🍻🍷BAR 🍺🍾🍷BABY!! 🤩👏🏼 their engaging selection between a creative plethora of cocktails🍸&a spanning array of beer🍻 variety can easily hold its own against the MIA Salt Yard next door! I was easily tempted by their 'Hash Can'🍹; a Sweet and Energizing cocktail of Rum, Tequila, Gin, Vodka, Blue Curacao, House-Made Sour Mix, and Red Bull of your choice (Reg, Sugar-free, Watermelon, Tropical, Coconut-Berry) i picked 🍉! &she did me right! I was doubting,but I watched her put all 5 of those full shots+house sourMix in, which when toped w my🍉 Red Bull created a BEAUTIFUL&SAVORY drink of vibrant colors, toped in red fading n2a touch of pink/purple hue b4 largely dropping into the dominating resonating blue that made up my respectably proper, one&done drink! &it's only $10

Extremely disappointing. My daughter and I had lunch or tried to have lunch here today it was terrible from customer service to food. We ordered our food around noon on a Tuesday it was not too busy. Our food order took a little over an hour before we received, we were starving by the time we got our food. When the server brought our food I noticed the size of mine immediately I tried stopping her & said "excuse me" as the server quickly walked away she did not acknowledge us at all. I walked up to the register waited for one of the 6 employees behind the counter to help but not one did. An employee sitting at a table with other guests, walked up to me said "what's up, did you need something" I explained that I ordered an 8 inch not a 4 inch sandwich. He began to look up our order, then told me well you only got charged for the 4 inch, I can have them make another 4 inch but they're really busy & it'll take at least 30 minutes to make. He made me feel like I was being an inconvenience so I told him that's okay I'll just eat what I got & if I'm still hungry I will just get food from somewhere else he said "okay". I sat back down ate my sandwich because I was so hungry at that point after waiting for so long. My daughter was eating her sandwich then she looked at me "omg mom look" she had a bug crawling in the middle of her sandwich. I could not believe! I grabbed her basket of food walked back up to counter same employee said "what's up"again I told him there's a bug in my daughter sandwich he quickly got up asked if I wanted a refund I said yes please. Then he told me at that point that they were making me another sandwich I told him no thanks I'm not hungry anymore. We left immediately. To be honest my sandwich had no flavor at all it was very bland & the service from the server ignoring us to even the bartender too that walked right past us multiple times basically looking the other way on top of everything else, this was a terrible experience & beyond...

I generally do like these subs, but they can't get the order right for anything we order. DO NOT MAKE SPECIAL REQUESTS, I guess they were too high to read the request for no pickles or my wife's request for no olives. They dumped the olives in her sub and as you can see from the pic, there's pickles right on top of the mess of a sub for mine.

The taste of their subs is great, minus the lingering pickle smell/taste I didn't want. The house dressing is amazing and the amount of stuff is way better than Subway. The sub was not toasted, and the dressing made it a soggy mess. For $14 you would expect them to at least get the order right. I would've given 3 stars on food if it was just mine.

My wife said hers was inedible due to the olive pile and she just tossed it in the garbage. I didn't pick it out of the garbage for a pic, sorry. This is why it got reduced to 1 star on the food.

As to the service getting 1 star, we came after the dinner rush with only like a couple people in the dinning area proper and a few at the bar. It took them 39 minutes to make our 2 subs. I didn't bug them or pester either. Just sat there drinking soda after soda waiting. When placing the order, the person was non-attentive and we had to repeat ourselves several times for them to even get the sub itself right. Though it did state no olives on hers and pickles on mine.

The atmosphere itself is awesome. Loved the music they were playing and the pot themed everything got lots of laughs as we had a ton of time to look ever everything. I can not in good faith recommend...
