1st off, 5 stars for the food! It was great! The 1 star is for the lack of consideration trend that is happening among restaurants these days, which this Pei Wei last evening was a culprit too! However, not sure if it is a generation thing or a society thing in general, but there is a lack of consideration and catering to the customer when it comes to the temperature climate within the restaurant i.e. they set it for the comfort level of the workers & not the guests. I started off working the restaurant biz and as a worker then assistant manager, if you had to cool down, you had a few options e.g. the walk-in freezer or fridge, stand in front of a fan that was in the kitchen or a quick break outside! The climate temp was for the customers...PERIOD! What is the business? To make money catering food in-house to people for their money! Ah hah moment: it is for customers/guests experience! Now that we all know it is not Rocket Science, the Pei Wei we just visited is also guilty of this inconsiderateness. It was freezing; and I'm a person who has the A/C at night set at least to 65, sometimes colder, & it was even cold for me too, plus my significant other. It literally felt like you were walking into a walk-in fridge when entering that Pei Wei. We expressed our concerns to our cashier and she simply rationalized & dismissed it by saying "Really? I am actually hot!" No concern for the comfort of the customers/guests! We had to sit outside because it was warmer! As we were by the patio door, 4 sets of couples also came out mumbling they too will sit outside because it was warmer! And because of that, we could only assume the 3 individuals who were outside on the patio before us probably had the same motivation. We also noticed several people sitting inside with a light jacket or sweater on; it was 70 degrees outside! It's a no-brainer, the manager/shift supervisor should always be aware & tend to the temp so customers should never need to approach them. And if a customer does approach them, teach your workers to address the customer concerns. After it being brought to your attention all you had to do was look around, observe and be vigilant and you would have been able to tell the complaint was not some sort of frivolous complaint coming from someone who just likes to complain. Moral of the story: since there is so much inconsiderateness down to even the simple, small and easy things these days...make sure you always carry a light jacket or sweater in your car at all times! LOL! Again, the...
Read morePei Wei’s has been mine and my family’s favorite place to eat for years and years. Todays visit will be my last. The last 4 times I have come I keep giving it another chance, hoping because of COVID or other reasons it has been lacking or just plain awful. It has always been an affordable place to eat with such great flavor. The last few times everything has either been burned or soggy. Today for 3 of us it was a 45 charge, pricey but was do able if food was good. First of all the young lady was just outright rude and dismissive of us. She had such attitude towards us like we had offended her, she started arguing with my daughter about her order and asking what it was she was trying to do. My daughter repeated her order and she’s I found it and rolled her eyes and shook her head at us. I ordered my drink and my daughters got water, she rolled her eyes again!!! This person was the cashier last time we came and was the exact same way the last time!!! I thought maybe she had an off day but this person is losing you tons of business! I heard another table complain about her attitude as well! We ordered an appetizer everything came out in to go boxes and just threw them down on our table. The chicken dumplings were so soggy from sitting in the steam so long they were in edible. The firecracker chicken was one of the worst things I’ve ever tasted! The chicken pieces were ok not bad , but there was a whole plate of noodles with absolutely no sauce on them!! You know how hard it is to eat noodles with no sauce?? I kept having to pour soy sauce and Chile sauce to try Eat them. I finally gave up and threw them away. I would have asked the cashier or someone for help, but due to lack of decent attitude I just threw our food in the garbage. What a bummer to spend 45 dollars on food the was un edible, we left still...
Read moreI love Pei Wei's food. I order take-out from there about 2-3x per month. I always get the same thing; I'm a creature of habit. But, that makes comparing the food from each occasion very easy. At first, the food was great, but it has taken a downturn in recent months. The chicken is grissly and the last few times I've bought take out there, they've goofed up the order (small issues, nothing too big). I feel like the portion is smaller when I order take out than when I dine in. I always call in about 20-30 minutes before I get there, and often wait an additional 10 minutes or so when I arrive, to get my food. Overall, I guess the service and value is so-so. I'm not mad... I'll probably still eat there. Maybe my expectations are too high for Albuquerque. But, as someone who pays them about $400 per year to eat there, I'd like a little better food and a little better attention to detail. I've called once or twice to voice my concerns, but I've been given excuses about them being busy, new chefs, new counter person, etc... I'd like someone to own the complaint and just say, "Our bad. We screwed up. What can we do to make it better?" That would appease me; everyone makes mistakes and lets their service lax a little. No big deal. If I could give it 3.75 stars, I would. Good job, Pei Wei, but you could do better. UPDATE, 2/29/20: Attention to detail has slid even further downhill. I've ordered a few things from here lately and the orders were prepared wrong. Portion sizes are smaller when you order take-out, so beware. It also seems as if the chefs are in a hurry; there is very little slicing and dicing going on. Instead, you're given huge chunks of chicken, whole pea pods and the like; that's not how it used to be. Probably...
