I had been riding (motorcycle) for 4 hours, and seeing as this is the closest waffle house to El Paso, TX. I decided to stop in before continuing to my hotel in ABQ. I had riding gear and sat at one of the tables. I was promptly and tersely informed that tables were for 2 or more guests, and that I was welcome to sit at the short bar, and be tended to. Fine, whatever. I moved, helmet, gloves, and riding jacket to the short bar. Got my drink order in, and being a regular to WH, I knew what I wanted. Placed my order with Savannah who was pretty busy, at the time. Order came out, and the chili on the hash browns was "runny." More than I'm used to, at other locations I've visited over more than 2 decades as a trucker. When my waffle came, it had black flecks on/in it from what I can only assume came from a dirty waffle iron. Secondly, rather than a fluffy, firm almost crispy waffle, I got a limp, 3/4 cooked waffle. When I took a bite, the aforementioned black flecks felt like I was crunching sand... Burnt sand, at that. I just couldn't. So, I just left the rest of it on the plate. I felt wasteful, because I usually finish my waffle. So, there's that.
The other issue I had was out of control of the staff, was this drunk/ stoned dude sitting 2 spaces over coughing loudly. And not covering his mouth. Ugh. But, at 1am, what do you expect.
Pricing and all was on point with any other WH. So, yeah.
Savannah did well, and came by to check on me, and my meal. Kudos for a job well done.
I might be back, but for now... I'll stick to the ones accessible by 18 wheeler. Lol. Maybe it was the fact that I was on a motorcycle that made be be a little more critical. But I'd like to...

However it's a place that I have a secret love affair with. The coffee is better if you drink it black. The food is basic breakfast food serve Southern style. The place is ground 0 for reality.. The people are real and this is where I learned how to love the world. Right now they're doing everything they can to stay open. So there are some nights that they're only serving take out and there's some nights that are actually even closed. Yes I know that used to be a singular rule that you could depend on the waffle house is open.. If places in the world that have great disasters they measure the depth of their disaster by whether the waffle house closed for this or not. I think on an International level this will let you know what kind of disaster work currently experiencing. Pay attention people waffle house is closed 2 days a week. My server paused to tell me how she missed me being there and how much she loves the people there. It's still real comfort food.
Update: The pandemic is mostly over. The menu is back to m\normal. A ittle more expensive now. The coffee is still good, but the price brings this place even with some nice places here in Albuquerque like "CHEDDERS". It's corner on the world is its open all night. I love the people there. It's a...
Read moreGood food and the staff seems to be very friendly except for the rude brunette hostess! With Covid-19 going on, they take your phone number and ask you to wait in your vehicle or outside in their waiting area. We had been waiting for 35 minutes in their waiting area after watching numerous families finish eating and drive away when we finally decided to go see how much longer of a wait we had. The hostess proceeded to rudely tell us that she had called us 20 minutes prior and since we didn’t answer, she took us off the list. We told her we never received a phone call so she said she would put us back on the list and first in line. We waited another 5 minutes but this time waited outside in front of the building to make sure we actually got the phone call this time. We watched the hostess attempt to call us which again was not going through so she looked at us and wiggled her phone to show us she was calling us but our phone was not ringing at all. I suggest this hostess take 10 seconds to walk outside to the waiting area and call a person’s name to see if that’s where they are since we weren’t the only ones that this happened to! As I mentioned before, the rest of the staff was great and the food was good but the hostess needs to lose the bad attitude and either needs customer service training since she does not know how to interact with customers or she needs to be put in a different position where she doesn’t interact with...
