I wished I looked at reviews before I booked. As I was leaving OKC on my way to LAS, we decided to stay a few nights midway in ABQ. I went through my Marriott to book this place because it was most cost effective and had all of the things we were looking for. We leave and drive the 9 hours to ABQ only to show up at 2:15am with no one working. I don’t mean they were elsewhere on the property, I mean, the person who was supposed to work did a NC/NS and the person before left after working 19 hours, according to the armed security guy patrolling the area. The person before told him that all reservations were checked in...this was the first lie. So he tried calling the manager, we tried calling the hotel number, and finally I called Marriott since I booked through them so I could get points and I’m a rewards member. After holding the representative also couldn’t believe they left the hotel without anyone working. Do you understand what I’m saying??? NO ONE WAS WORKING AT A HOTEL THAT WAS OCCUPIED. On top of all that, they couldn’t get a hold of a single person. This was beyond unprofessional. So Marriott creates another reservation at a different hotel for the night that was slightly more, didn’t have the free breakfast and paid $7 for parking. There were other options, but there were other factors at play, like not being a pet friendly hotel was the biggest. So after the night, I wake up to a charge of $180 for the Fairfield. When I called them to talk to a manager, the manager wouldn’t be in until the next day. They still dgaf about leaving us stranded in the middle of the night in a neighborhood that you need private armed (I mean bulletproof vests and everything) for. At first they just said they would just refund me my money. Well, duh....of course you are going to do that. But what else? To date I have received, 3 bottles of water, a bag of chips, a KitKat bar, and the free night. Nothing about having to deal with all of this. The lies about why they kept charging my card (they charged my card again), who would call me back (no one ever did), the manager that would be on site, and now this extra room. This has been the worst experience ever and I will be posting this review everywhere until a manager...
Read moreHugely disappointing. That pretty much sums up my experience at the hotel. I’ve stayed at this property numerous times over the past several years, and I’m not planning on returning. The disappointments started when I tried to get a shuttle to the hotel from the airport, and was informed that the shuttle was no longer running. Covid, I get it. Other Marriott properties are paying for taxis or Lyft/Uber rides when their shuttles are shut down, but not this one... Upon check-in I was informed that the type of room I requested three weeks prior to my arrival was not available, despite the fact I had called and been assured by a hotel representative that my choice of room had been reserved, so I was forced to settle with a lesser room. Additionally this property is now run down, dirty, unmaintained, and well under-staffed. Certain members of the staff were down right surly and condescending; not a trait I look for in the service industry. The guest clothes washer and dryer are dirty, unbelievably noisy, (out of balance, bearings and belts shrieking, the washer literally walking across the floor) and unmaintained. I didn’t see any evidence of the hallway floors having been recently (ever?) vacuumed; I noticed that upon my departure the white dog hair and vast quantities of multi-colored lint was exactly where I found it all the evening I checked in. If you are traveling with large quantities of luggage, don’t expect to be able to pull up to the front door to unload, as the unused shuttle and employees vehicles are blocking the entrance, and the doors are locked after dark. The breakfast selection continues to suffer from the “Covid copout” with limited items being sporadically served; in fact, one day there simply was no breakfast. “We ran out of food” was the reply when I enquired as to why the breakfast room doors were closed. Including the coffee? No orange juice? Not even bottles of water or yogurt or milk or cereal? All gone at once. Truly amazing. And disappointing. My recommendation would be to avoid this place at all cost and move up the street to one of the numerous other properties available...
Read moreWhen I checked in, I was not automatically upgraded as a gold member. I had to go up to the room, see that it wasn't an upgrade, then go back to the front desk. When I mentioned this to the front desk gal, she said I can't be upgraded since I'm staying over 10 nights. I'd never heard that rule before and asked for clarification. SHe talked with someone from the back room and then upgraded my room. What a pain to deal with an employee making up policy.
I get up the following morning to discover a cock roach in my sink. I took a picture since I knew no one would believe me. Also, my toilet was clogged (before I used it!). And there was no liner on the shower curtain.
The daily breakfast was a disappointment. It was Canadian bacon nearly every day. When I asked for bacon or pork sausage, I was told by the staff that the owners of the hotel are too cheap and won't pay for those meats. Staff openly criticizing the owners to guests.....very poor.
To top it all off, when I check out, I was charged nearly double what my confirmation email said. When I asked the front desk, to resolve this, they said they did not know how and the management would be in later. I returned to the hotel 4 hours later to discuss with said management only to get told the same thing: they don't know how to fix it. I called the main customer service 800 number and complained....still no action. Finally I just disputed the charge on my credit card as fraudulent. This stopped payment. Lo and behold I get a phone call from the manager they very next day charging me the correct amount. Unbelievable that it came to that.
Oh, I forgot to mention the rude employee.....this guy has a long gray braid and an oxygen tank. A customer asked him to change the channel during breakfast one morning. He got in a shouting match with her about how to use the remote. It was sad. He was way out of line to yell at a guest.
I will never stay at this property again. This hotel does not deserve the Marriott brand name and certainly does not live up to...
