I can’t say that my experience at the Townplace Marriot is the worse experience I have ever had but it is up there! First let’s talk about the street noise. I would assume you do not have double pane glass in the windows or there windows were substandard for the application but I could hear every drag race, siren and wheels squealing on Gibson all through the night. If it was not for the overly noisy air conditioning the street noise would probably have been deafening (ok maybe that is a little over statement but both were noticeable loud). Secondly the air conditioning was rather hard to control. Either too hot or too cold. In any case it was hurricane like winds coming from the wall unit. The beds were next to it so whoever was close was either bundling up or stripping away all the covers. Then there was the housekeeping team (or lack thereof). OK so not getting the bad made…. Not a big deal… just like home. And not having clean dry towel everyday was not desirable for a vacation but it did not kill us. What was rather barbaric was the fact that there was not enough toilet paper. I don’t think I need to elaborate with a picture in your mind’s eye about that one. Now the staff was really really nice about most of it. They were very considerate but as they noted … their hands were tied. Lastly I want it to be known that I have been to a lot of similar hotels and I know when they say a hot continental breakfast what to expect. It is not much but usually pretty good. My complaint on the food was the lack of variety. Many other similar hotels have similar food but at least they vary it. Mind you the variations are not much but to have the same food for seven days is pretty bad. Even if you had a cycle of three different items that I would have had duplication twice would have been better… but no change in food… really? Nonetheless my son going to UNM this fall and I was looking for a home base while I was there. The description of you rooms made me think that I found a place I would be staying a few times a year but I think based on my last experience I will need to find someplace else. For that matter I have reservations in a few weeks at the Townplace but I am going to have to cancel them because I cannot put up with a hotel like that…...
Read moreNot pleasant, we booked a two bedroom suites for one night. We arrived pretty late at around 12 am. Unfortunately, the bath tub drain was clogged, my sister cannot take a shower after me. She had to wash her hair at the kitchen sink first and wait until the nasty water in bath tub is gone. My brother didn't want to wait because it was like 2am. We did not want to bother to move all the luggage either because it was too late. Thought this could be solved earlier before our stay.
ANOTHER incident due to the lack of effective communication. We checked out at around 11am. I found that I lost my skincare items by the basin in the bathroom around 1pm. Communicated with the hotel staff about the lost items. The hotel staff was notified and wanted me to call back at night. I called at night, but they said I need to call in the next morning when the housekeepers are here.
THEN, i called the next day(22nd of Nov.), the hotel staff said they are notified and had a note for my case. Our conversation ended up with "Due to the holiday, the head of housekeeper isn't here, please call tmr." I asked for if the head of housekeeper could call me back after looked for my lost items. The hotel staff said yes.
THE THIRD day, because of the holiday, i was not sure about the head of housekeepers' work schedule, so i waited the whole day. No calls received.
The fourth day, I called in the morning, this time the hotel staff said she did not see a note about my case and asked me to describe whats going on to her. She was very attentive and effective. After i retelling my situation, she said she will give me a call back before she leaves. I did receive a call 3 hours later, but they said NOTHING was found. The reason was they won't keep opened items due to hygiene reasons. FINE, but I contacted you 2 hours after checking out. You should have sufficient time to deal with my case. Whether I need to drive back to the hotel or what. I were in Santa Fe after Albuquerque. Not a very long time driving. But the stuff i lost definitely worth me driving back. If the communication went effective and they were being attentive, I believe this wouldn't have happened.
Thought my platinum premier loyalty would probably worth for that normal attentiveness? Not sure if you guys...
Read moreI stayed here for six nights when the new house I was supposed to move into had an unexpected delay in being finished. Overall, this was a solid place- everything worked and was clean and I especially appreciated the Tea Tree brand shampoo and soap they had in the shower. These rooms have kitchens with everything except a convection oven so it was relatively easy to cook and eat healthy versus having to do take-out all of the time (but an oven would put it over the top). I was also impressed with how they accommodated their free breakfast in light of the pandemic- some places just tell you they're doing nothing and some have offered a packaged item or two, but this hotel gave you a paper to fill out with your order that you would give to someone downstairs and then it would be prepared for you. I didn't use it as I like to eat healthy (eggs only came fried and with meat and the oatmeal was not on the list), but it was the best replacement for breakfast I saw on my trip. I didn't like that the room was incredibly hot (when I walked in the thermometer read 89) and almost always needed the air unit on to be at a comfortable temp (so it dried out my nostrils and mouth). Also, having a room on the side of the hotel facing Gibson St. meant lots of traffic noise throughout the night, even on the top floor. With that and the air, I never slept more than four-five hours each night I was here. I would HIGHLY recommended asking for a room on the side of the hotel not facing Gibson St. Also, the internet was a bit finnicky- I could almost never have it on my cell and laptop at the same time. Once it got logged on though, it worked just fine. As a runner, this hotel was situated really well. I ran two different 9+ mile routes north and east into the neighborhoods and had great runs through neighborhoods with some charm, especially as you got further away from the hotel. There's also a route you can take going south past the rental car facility but I didn't get a chance to go that way. Overall, this is a solid choice- it'd be a five if I hadn't gotten stuck with a room facing Gibson St. and the rooms were at more normal...
