I travel thru ABQ 2x every month. I will never choose this hotel again.
Check-in ladies were wonderful. They get 5 stars. Lady working desk in mask morning of 5/10/23 gets zero stars.
Room was nice for the most part. I loved the canvas pictures, new furniture, and laminate flooring in lieu of carpet. Nice touches! However, I could tell the construction crew that updated these rooms had no pride in doing things correctly. Door gave me a hard time closing every time, heat/fan panel was hung off kilter in bathroom and a floor panel stuck out and kept catching my shoe. Sign on door was even askew. And when I tried closing curtains, the mechanism fell off into my hand.
Amenities were good. Indoor pool 5' and hot jacuzzi. Jacuzzi didn't have the strongest jets and all jets were the same. Outdoor seating areas were cute and had tables and chairs. The benches converted into picnic table which was cool. Property was clean.
Breakfast was horrific. You may say you shouldn't complain about a free breakfast but you'd be wrong; nothing is free and they raise their prices to offer "free" breakfast. Went down at 8:35am when it ends at 9am. Offerings included: toast, pancake maker, sausage, instant oatmeal, cold cereal, coffee, juice from machine, apples, and yogurt. There was no breakfast attendant. You had to go to front desk to ask for eggs (per a sign, this is very weird). And there was no tea available or hot water for the oatmeal.
We had made a batch of pancakes for each of us which consists of 2 tiny pancakes. The machine needed to be refilled. I went to front desk at 8:48am and was told that they don't refill breakfast items this close to closing. There is no integrity in that. If breakfast ends at 9am then I should be able to get it until that time.
When packing up room and loading car I got locked out of my room with key even though it was 5 minutes before checkout time. Integrity seems to be an issue here.
Meh. This place is...
Read moreOverall it was fine. Comfy bed, nice staff. However, I don’t think I’d stay again as there are much better options for about $30 more a night. See below if you want an extended, honest review:
First the area…not great, but close to the airport. I’m not from here, but it seems relatively centrally located. Let me say I did not have any problems, but with the amount of homeless people, and obvious drug addicts walking around (and no security) I was hesitant to park my car here. Could’ve just been me though.
The lobby is more motel than hotel, but they have an indoor pool and jacuzzi. A few clean areas to sit, and what looks like a working computer for free use.
The room was great considering. The king suite was spacious, and the bed was very comfortable. The only bad things about the room(this is nit-picky), the a/c is very loud. But if you turn it off, the room gets stuffy fast. And the streaming options on the tv didn’t work. But at least they have HBO and Max.
The free breakfast…the waffles were decent, but the sausages and coffee especially, were what I would consider inedible. You can literally get better at the gas station…although come to think of it, that may be exactly where it came from.
The cost of going to get a coffee, and good breakfast would basically equal staying at a nicer hotel. So for me at least, I would say this hotel is not a good value, unless you get some kind of deal and it’s literally half the price. $116 a night isn’t awful, but the Marriot,Hyatt, etc, were only like $135.
I don’t want to be super negative, so let me end with the best things about the hotel.
The highlights: The people working here are all very friendly. The bed is great In-room fridge and microwave Indoor pool Snack machines that take cards Free waffles...
Read moreThis is a generic-seeming motel that exceeds expectations. Price seemed very fair for a convenient location (about $100/night for 2 nights in mid-November 2024 with full cancellation privileges). The room was about what I would expect in terms of size and furnishings. But it was absolutely clean as a pin, and everything was plugged in and worked well. The bathroom was well-provisioned, including 4 towels even though we were only 2 people. The furnishings in the room were in great condition, and the floor was luxury viny plank—nice looking and much more hygienic than carpet.
The table lamp between beds had 2 power outlets, which was super-convenient. The breakfast was above-average, with scrambled eggs, sausage and waffles, along with the usual carbohydrate options. There was a nice-looking pool and hot tub that we didn't have a chance to use.
The hotel offered an advance check-in, which was convenient and saved time.
The rest of the hotel was equally clean and tidy. There were even a few potted plants. I didn’t need anything much in the way of service, but all my interactions with service people were very positive. The overall vibe was that, from management on down, people actually cared about their work. The bottom-line is that this is a very affordable generic motel in a good location that maintains the standards of more...
