My husband and I tried Uncle Julio's for a change-up from our normal Mexican Restaurants on 5/3. I pointed out the Happy Hour price on Margaritas and my husband decided to get the Margarita of the month and I got the swirl. I purposely asked the waitress if the blueberry one was also part of the happy hour and she stated that "all margaritas were part of happy hour". My husband isn't a big tequila fan and not a frozen marg type so this suited him more. He is typically a beer drinker so he wouldn't have ordered this margarita at the $13 non happy hour price. She confirmed since it was before 6 it was included. We had our food, great service and asked for our check. Check came and I noticed my margarita was $5, and his showed up as $13. So we just simply asked her "Is this supposed to be the happy hour price". First she said "maybe because you are paying after 6" which didn't make sense since mine came up right. She came back a few moments later saying that the manager would fix it. We figured all was good at that point and then the manager showed up at our table saying "I was told you have an issue with the price of the margarita". I simply explained that we were didn't have a "problem" but was just questioning the price rang up since we were told it was happy hour pricing. He then said that it wasn't included in the Happy Hour pricing and if she told us that she was lying. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. He said that she told him that she never told us that and that meant she was lying to him. We were dumbfounded. Our intention wasn't to get anyone in trouble but we just mentioned something we were told and that should have been an easy fix. He went to fix it and then came back "She is still lying to me". We said we weren't trying to get her in trouble, just asked about the pricing. He then went on very angrily and said "It's too late for that, Integrity is important around here." First of all, As a customer, I should never have been subjected to this at all. I don't know that we would ever step foot back into this establishment. I've written training about leadership development and this is NOT IT. She totally avoided us and I felt so bad for her. I don't know what she said or didn't say, and as a customer, it isn't my business. This manager made customers into non-customers and left us feeling guilty when at the end of the day, we were just trying to have a...
Read moreWe made an advance reservation for four, for 5:30p on Sunday evening, to celebrate my mother's birthday. We arrived at 5:27p and waited in front of the hostess station for 5 min, despite a lady, in all black (manager) standing at the bar chatting and laughing with the blonde bartender, who was facing our direction, and who I made purposefully made eye contact with to be noticed. Nothing.
We got checked in, and the hostess left to go set menus at the table for the large party that was ahead of us. I stepped to the side so the new customers could be helped when the hostess returned. The manager/ owner walked up and asked the new customers if they had been helped? They answered "no". As the hostess was returning from setting out menus, he instructed her to seat them. You could tell she wasn't sure what to do because we had arrived before them, but she didn't say anything and just did what she was told and sat the new-comers. As she walked off I made a point to convey to the gentleman who told her to seat them, that we had arrived first and that we had a reservation. He apologized. When the hostess returned she took us to a booth in the very back, and off to the side. We sat down and began looking at the menu. 5 min went by. A couple was seated in a booth near us. Another 3 min went by and the couple was having chips and salsa brought to their table and their drink order was being taken, and we don't even know who our server IS. Another 3-4 minutes go by. No chips. No drinks. We put down our menus and are chatting and looking around. Another 5 min goes by and still nothing. After almost 20 min of sitting there with no acknowledgement, we got up and preceded to the front doors. I relayed to the hostess and the new blonde manager in black at the hostess station our disappointment. She offered to sit us in another area with a "better server", at my mother's request, I declined. The experience was wasted. The sad part is, this is my husband's LEAST favorite place to eat and he was just accommodating our out of town guest. He doesn't care for paying too much money for mediocre tex-mex and the service is never great. My mother had never eaten here, it was her birthday and we thought the chocolate pinata would be a nice way to cap-off the day and her birthday weekend. I'm sure we'll never be back, but I'm also sure that it doesn't matter to the restaurant or owner, if we...
Read moreI came here for my first time ever on a weekday night after the dinner rush, aka., it was NOT busy at all. And I will NOT be coming back anytime soon. We walk up to the host stand and no one was there to greet us. Instead, I saw at least three other waiters walk by, looking directly as us, and they did nothing. They didn't bother coming over to greet us or take us to a table. They were not doing anything, just walking back and forth trying to appear busy. One waiter was just standing there watching us. Very awkward and should've been the first red flag. Finally, the host came to us, and he was apologetic and polite. We asked for a booth but there wasn't one ready, no big deal. So, he took us a to a table in a back corner, but as we walked there, at least a dozen booths either looked ready or still had dishes and napkins all over them. There were many tables still dirty with waiters off doing other things instead of cleaning them. We sat there at the table for 10 minutes. No one came despite getting stares from other waiters across the room. No drink order, no chips and salsa. I went to the restroom to wash my hands. Bathroom wasn't tidy and had a smell. At that point, we gave up and left. VERY poor management, and a terrible staff. The host was the only one I saw running back and forth to take people to their tables. The place wasn't busy at all, maybe 20 patrons at the most were in there. The host and one other waitress were the only attentive ones out of that entire place. I'm so tired of the "minimum wage, minimum effort" mentality from these young employees. They all need to be fired. They don't deserve to get paid for doing nothing to upkeep the restaurant. ZERO hospitality, ZERO sense of cleanliness, ZERO energy. It's not fair to the host to be the only one doing his job and covering their duties too. And while he was busy, none of the other waiters jumped in to take over, again, they just stood there or walked back and forth with frowns. Maybe hiring mature adults will be better, because at this rate, this place is going to go out of business by the end of the year if this same team is still working there. Based off of other recent reviews,...
