Denny's was one of my favorite restaurants for almost my entire life. Most locations are open 24-7, with an affordable, diner-inspired menu that is sure to include SOMETHING for just about everyone's taste buds. Quick, friendly service, breakfast all day, amazing milkshakes, and my late night go-to: the "you pick 3/4" on the appetizer menu, allowing you to create your own shareable snack without leaving out any of your top finger-foods (seasoned fries, chicken wings, onion rings, mozzarella sticks, and so on,). What is really unfortunate is that, nowadays, there's been significant changes in service, quality, & accuracy when ordering take-out or delivery from practically any restaurant. I am saddened to admit that one of the biggest let-downs for me has been Denny's...during the 'Third-Party App Restaurant Takeover'. These apps that we've become accustomed to using (I don't really need to point fingers, do I?), are actually seizing control of the way the world dines, shops, interacts...At the end of the day, they're managing to not only change consumerism as a whole, but they're making mad money doing it! They're controlling when/where/how we eat/shop/interact. They control the level of service we receive from establishments. They enable us to withdraw from each other, truly isolated. Our only forms of companionship are the very screens used to manipulate our decisions, hard earned money, & our lives. But an alternate way to look at this would be the fact that we never have to look our servers or other restaurant staff in the eye when we order our food. We don't have to treat anyone with respect, watch our wait staff as they break a sweat, hustling around the dining room to earn their keep. The influence to leave a decent tip has diminished, and with it, these employees incentivize to make quality food, package accurate orders, or even change the menu online when something has changed. Why bother? If you never have to look each other in the eye, who cares where the order is going to or if they're happy or not? It no longer becomes the restaurant's problem. It now lies in the hands of the third party app that is delivering it, when in fact, they truly have no control over what the restaurant does or how accurate your order will be. Back to Denny's. My point in saying this is that, probably to no fault of their own, it's menu is no longer 24/7. Half of it is unavailable at night. They probably can't afford to keep the employees necessary to make the whole menu 24/7 anymore. The problem is, no one thought to change the online menus. Whose responsibility is it? So, like me, you'll end up paying for an order that you will receive half of. After all, Denny's doesn't have to fix the problem. If you're not happy about paying for food you didn't receive, you'll probably contact a customer service robot on the app you ordered from. You'll be asked to "provide proof". Then, the robot will MOST LIKELY agree. But, a 3-day wait for a partial refund doesn't bring you the food you ordered-why you used their app to begin with. I ordered 2 milkshakes, 2 Apple Crisps w/ vanilla ice cream, & 2 combos. And as you all know, I paid EXTRA for using an app- delivery fees, driver tips, service fees, upcharges...The list goes on. I had no way of knowing that half of my order wasn't available on the menu at that time. In fact, they're NEVER available at that time. Denny's is still a great place. Just not on a delivery app past 11pm. Try the old fashioned way of dining here, if you want an accurate, thoroughly prepared, respectfully presented meal. That being said, reciprocation is also in order for their wait staff. Help em' out with the compensation they deserve for a difficult & ruthlessly demanding job. A job that, until just a few years ago, the world relied on. In today's lonely society, I can only imagine the incredible drop in demand, the 180° turn in job security for the brave souls who wait tables. The people who have put up with more in a day's work than most could endure...
Read moreIf I could rate this place NEGATIVE stars I would. Me and my wife were just in here a couple of hours ago and it was, by far, the worst service we've EVER had ANYWHERE. For starters, we walked into the EMPTY dining room after midnight and waited 15 minutes to be seated while the staff stood around and eventually got tired of us standing there. When we were finally seated our server, Warren, asked what we wanted to drink. My wife asked for iced coffee, which was on the menu, and Warren proceeded to tell her that they didn't have it. We asked for root beer instead and were eventually brought out caramel-colored water. How does one not know what it should look like when it's being dispensed? Another server came to our table and we told her that the syrup needed to be changed and, after ten more minutes, she came back and said they didn't have any more. We asked for Dr Pepper instead and were brought a glass with ice and soda, like normal, and a half a glass of JUST soda, no ice. We asked Warren to bring us out another glass which he eventually did and asked what we would like to eat. This is where the real fun begins. We asked for country fried steak with scrambled eggs and cheese. My wife asked for extra gravy and for her hashbrown to be extra toasted. After about 20-30 minutes Warren brought our plates out. My "eggs" were totally overcooked and BOTH plates were missing cheese. My wife's steak was missing the extra gravy and BOTH hashbrowns were uncooked and cold. When she brought these issues to our servers attention he took her hashbrown BACK to the kitchen to be finished properly and it wasn't until he brought it back out that he acknowledged the fact that she'd told him about the missing cheese and extra gravy. Warren went BACK to the kitchen and came out with a bowl of cheese to "rectify" the issue of it being missing in her eggs. She then reminded him, for a THIRD time, about the missing gravy and, after nearly 15 more minutes, finally brought out a bowl of white liquid and blamed the poor quality on the chef. After our "meal" we approached the counter and the shift manager took off to the back somewhere. When we asked the kid at the counter to get her for us we were informed that there, in fact, WASN'T a manager on duty and then proceeded to laugh in our faces when we tried to question why there wasn't one. It was like no one had any idea what they were doing there. This is totally unacceptable and there is no excuse. We WILL be returning in the morning to speak to the store manager if one is available. If you're reading this and looking for a Denny's to go to, stay as far away from this one as possible. We wasted our time and money so you...
Read moreThe only thing good about this was our server Carlos. Limited parking and the family ahead of us was instructed to seat themselves even though there is a sign to wait to be seated. It was not even busy. The food might have taken 30 minutes. The food at best was room temperature. The skillet the food was burnt into the skillet and can't even blame the skillet because there was no "sizzle". The English Muffins were stale, the pancakes were raw in the middle or at least gummy, the bacon was shoe leather. We asked the server to please let the manager know and the manager never even approached, she let the server come back saying the best she could do was take $11 off which I think is the AAA discount anyways. I wasn't originally looking for a discount but acknowledgement maybe an offer to make it better but not at another visit correct it while it's happening. When paying she was instructing someone how to ring in discounts and didn't even acknowledge the situation that's when I found out about AAA discount. At least come over to the table, offer a redo, apologize. I told him ahead of time that I wanted to let her know and I guess that's her way of saying yes I know but this is the best I can do. I was not about to make a scene, she acknowledged it by offering a discount. At $20 per person I'm not sure I'd say you get what you pay for. Again great over the top sever but food absolutely horrible. Not worth the $50. Probably a franchise but I hope the owner monitors reviews so they know what's going on at their store or at bare minimum everyone else does and avoids this place. On top of everything the portions have been greatly reduced on top of prices being increased that's par and probably should be glad but I don't know if I'd feed stay animals with this food. I feel bad for the server that works here and has someone take out their frustrations over the...
