I love a good speakeasy. Somewhere you have to know how to get in, be it through a password, a hidden door, or in this case having to "buy cigarettes" from an antique machine in the basement of a hotel. How fun.

The cocktail list was good and varied. We had two different Bourbon cocktails. They were both good but not nearly the best we'd ever tasted. I was hoping for more daring cocktails, maybe with Green Chartreuse or Malort, but i didn't see any of those on the menu.

Paramount Recreation Club delivers on great service, excellent cocktails, and a stylish ambience that makes for a memorable night out. The staff is attentive, and the drinks are crafted with real care, making it an easy place to enjoy a few rounds and conversations.

That said, the crowd can sometimes be a mix, with a few know-it-all socialites that can dampen the otherwise fantastic vibe. It’s not enough to take away from the quality of the venue itself, but something to be mindful of.

The place is decorated way too modern for the theme of a speakeasy (in my opinion). We waited in a line of people waiting for drinks (it wasn’t THAT busy). Eventually gave up and left. So can’t speak...
