California Fish Grill — Restaurant in Anaheim

Ordered online for pickup scheduled at 11:28a on 01/30/25. Arrived on time and was told it would be just a couple more minutes. No problem. I was then told that the Branzino (Sea Bass) was not available, and they said they would switch it for salmon. That particular plate was not for me, it was for my co-worker. They wanted to stick with white fish, so we switched it to Swai. None of the employees acknowledged the price difference, I had to bring it up. I asked "may I have a refund for the difference on cost between the Branzino and the Swai? They asked me what is the cost difference? I showed them my online order receipt and said the cost of the Swai is shown to be $11.99 on their menu. They said a refund would be available within 2-3 business days. That's not good enough, why make me wait for my money for their mistake? They called their manager and said he'd be here soon to do the transaction. I asked if there were any managers in the store that could help me. They said no. They offered a free appetizer, but I don't want more food, I just want the difference. Why can't you ether just swipe the same card I used or give me cash? They told me it doesn't work that way and they don't carry cash. They said the manager must process the refund and asked if they can email me my refund receipt. I said sure. The employee misspelt my email twice, so I ended up writing it down for them. I asked for the managers phone number. Still waiting on a response/refund. They wasted my lunch break for their mistakes.

I didn't yell, I wasn't rude, I just wanted resolution. This location is terrible. Not my first issue at this store. 121 E Katella Ave, Anaheim, CA 92802 is the location.

Ordered today and tipped (generously) while paying but wasn't asked if I would like a receipt as they try to reduce waste (I get it). Then waited over 40 minutes with no food. My buzzer for dining in went off and I went to the counter but my food wasn't ready. It was not overly crowded but chaos ensued behind the counter as they were getting almost every order wrong (dine in and take out) having to make things over and delaying the next tickets. Things were spiraling down very quickly.

I then waited in line to get back to the register to request a refund as I didn't want to add to the mix. As I waited it took a while as they called the register person over multiple times to assist to no avail as food couldn't get out because items were missing. They couldn't find my order for a refund at first since it was so far back. The person at the register let me know they would need to get their manager which I was patient with. The manager was able to find the order and offered me a refund but not the tip I had included when I orded. I asked for the tip as it wasn't on the refund receipt that they printed. They told me the order was only for X amount of dollars (the cost of the food and tax, no tip) so that's all they could give me back. Needless to say I won't be tipping next time and would suggest others not to tip before being served even though their system is built around tipping first.

Before this occurence I've had multiple visits with great service and great food but with a different manager and crew. I dare say that this was one of the best California Fish Grill's I have ever been to and I've been to a lot. Hopefully, management can turn this...
