My recent and first stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Anaheim was overall very pleasant. I was initially nervous given some of the reviews but based on my own research and weeding through the opinions of many travelers, I decided to book. Initial reasons I booked were because of the close proximity to the Disneyland Resorts parks, the ability to have a joint but separated room for adults/kids to enjoy, free breakfast and of course cost. We were greeted at reception by two lovely women who promptly took care of checking us in and even went above and beyond by providing small toys for our toddlers to have – this was such a hit and they played with them the entire time! I don’t think this is standard practice, but it was greatly appreciated. There were ample baggage carts available for easy loading of our stuff to take to our room. The commons areas (lobby, hallways, breakfast facilities) were all very clean. Our room was just as described and was ready for us to settle in right away. The bathroom provided shampoo, body wash and hand soap and the towels were enough for 4 people. The two full beds were decent and comfortable enough to sleep in at the end of a long day in the parks. The trundle bed was very firm but the pull-out bed underneath seemed to be more medium-firm. The pillows were a little lumpy so that would be my only critique with the beds. Breakfast in the morning consisted of make your own waffles (regular and strawberry flavor), 3 cereal options, yogurt, apples/bananas and an assortment of pastries/bagels. There was also a machine for apple/orange juice and water plus hot water and coffee (regular and decaf). The staff maintained a clean environment and while the facilities were indeed on the smaller end for a property the size of the La Quinta, we had no issues finding space but we also went around 8-8:30 am each morning so most people had completed breakfast by then it seemed like. They urge you not to take any of your food back to your hotel room and while I can see why that could be challenging for some families traveling with children, I also know that helps the hotel staff keep the rooms cleaner for the next guests. I didn’t test out the WiFi but I had no issues with the cell signal within the hotel through AT&T. I was able to comfortably stream shows and browse the web from my phone/tablet without lag. We didn’t have any issues with our keys and getting into our room and we felt the noise level throughout the property was reasonable for a hotel stay so we were able to get sleep each night of our stay. Another really great thing about staying at the property is the proximity to the Anaheim Garden Walk. We were lucky it was right across the street on the first night we arrived because we could easily pop over to the Cheesecake Factory and grab a bite after getting two very tired toddlers off to bed. We didn’t explore much more of that area but knew we had options should we need something to eat and didn’t want to eat in the parks. Lastly, our walk to and from the parks was around 15-20 minutes from leaving the elevators to getting to the security lines. We felt safe during the day and in the evening. There is a fire station right down the street so be prepared to potentially hear sirens but we didn’t hear them go off at night. In summary I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family who are looking for a budget friendly stay in the Anaheim/Disneyland Resort area. My pros would be: price, room layouts, breakfast, proximity to restaurant options and Disneyland. My cons would be: slightly outdated décor and furnishings, low toilet flush pressure, room separator could be fully darkening instead of frosted glass for greater separation for individuals...
Read moreI took my 8th graders to California for their 2 night three day class trip. We booked this hotel well in advance, and were told of the "spacious" two room suites that slept 8 comfortably. Upon checking in, we realized quickly that the rooms were anything but spacious, and we had to reorganize our sleeping arrangements. My room's air conditioner was not working and after several attempts to get a maintenance person up to check on it, I was finally just moved to another room with the kids who were staying with me.
The next morning, an employee approached me and told me that he'd received a complaint from another guest that my students were running the halls, and being noisy. I asked what time this was and he said around 12 am. I explained to this employee that I was pretty confident that it wasn't my students, given each of my four rooms had adult chaperones in them, and we had a 10 pm curfew. I offered another reason for the noise given I saw several families staying at this hotel with kids of all ages.. Especially on the third floor. Maybe it was them. I also told him that the 4th floor above us sounded like a herd of elephants all night. He was adamant that it was my students. Even though no one could identify any of my kids.
Thirdly, a miscommunication occurred at the time of booking the two night stay for May 9th and 10th, and while we were at Disneyland, I received a phone call from my school admissions office telling me that the hotel had called them wanting to know why we hadn't checked out. I immediately called the hotel and asked what they confusion was. The employee told me that our arrival date was for May 8th and checking out on May 10th. We were a "no show" on the 8th. If we wanted to stay the night of the 10th and check out on the 11th, we would be charged a no show fee, and an additional $780 dollars for the extra night. Needles to say I was furious. I explained to the employee that the girl who checked me in on the 9th for the 4 "family suites" did not say one word about your hotel expecting us on the 8th. She could clearly see it on her computer. In fact, she said my name, amount of rooms booked, and told.me to enjoy my two night stay. I told this employee that my students do fundraising all year long to support their class trip. The hotel alone cost them $1300. They were not going to pay for another night, due to someone's miscommunication. We had paid in advance for two nights. After 15 minutes of being on hold, I was told they'd reimburse the credit card, and move that money to the night of the 10th .Upon checking out, I had the same girl that checked me in. When I asked for a receipt to show I was only being charged for two nights stay, she accused me of telling her that we were only staying one night. I told her that was impossible! She just looked at me and said .. "well someone in your group said one night! " and she walked to the back office to get her supervisor to come help me. Who didn't even offer an apology.
I have stayed at La Quinta Inns before and have loved them. This particular hotel is one that I will never go back to. The hotel elevator is very slow, parking is a real pain, (we had to park one of our vans at the adjacent hotel, for a $50 non refundable fee) and the showers don't drain very fast. However worst of all was the trundle bed I slept on. It was more like a box spring, and the wooden frame around it was a pain for me as every time I turned around I was running into it. I have several ugly bruises on my thighs thanks...
Read moreI wrote this email afyer we had left. I called ro speal to Amal the supposed manager, 2 weekd later, still no response. DONT BOTHER STAYING HERE
Hello, I'm writing this email due to some extremely annoying and inconvenient issues we encountered during our stay at la Quinta this past week. Of course I brought these issues up to your front desk staff, maintenance personnel, and nothing was done or offered. No discount on our bill, not a new room, nothing. I was given this email. Not even a name.
The 1st issues was we arrived during a heat wave. We arrived in the late afternoon. Both my boys and myself woke up a few times in the middle of the night due to being a little warm. I repeatedly lowered the AC to lower the temperature.at a I lowered it to 65. When we woke up we saw I had the AC set at 65 but the temp was still showing at 71. The AC was bowing out of the ventt in our room, but the room was still significantly warmer that the rest of the suite. We left for the day, thinking it was slowly making it's way down to the set temp of 65. When we came back late that night the thermostat did day 65, the rest of the suite was freezing, however our room was still warm We slept in the living room and the spare room as our entire party had not arrived yet. None of the outlets on the lamps worked except for one, and it was very loose and slow. We had to unplug TV's and lamps to use those outlets as they were the only ones that worked. Very annoying and unorganized as he had our electronics spread through out the whole suite.
On the 3rd day I hurt my ankle. My family helped me hobble up to our room. Our card key wouldn't work. We couldn't get into our room. My boyfriend ran down to tell the front desk front desk wouldn't help unless I went down there withy ID . Now completely pissed off and annoyed, I hobbled down there. The front desk said nothing other than 'thank you'. So then I told him about the thermostat and outlets. Told him I was done letting this ho and it needed to be fixed immediately . Maintenance came up. Said the AC is working, but he doesn't know why that one bedroom is so warm and there's nothing he can do. Then I see about the outlets, to which he replied "oh yea, some them jus don't work". Which tells me this is a known problem that the hotel has been notified of and is un willing to fix. So during a heat wave, our AC wasn't fixed and we weren't offered a different room.
On fire alarm battery started dying and beeping. Had to get it changed.
Then the other fire Alarm went off twice in our room as we were sitting there watching TV.
One of our phones in the room didn't work. We couldn't get hot water from our sink till day 3
And our card key quit working again on the last night at 1am.
I'm extremely disappointed and infuriated in the service of this hotel . I've decided to bring this up to the hotel it's self before posting a review on multiple platforms, as the front desk staff said they could do nothing about the bill, and I kmow many people will be interested to hear your AC wasn't working properly during a heat wave and you're hotel did nothing for its clients.
If you are also unable or unwilling to do anything about the bill please respond with contact info for your supervisor or manager.
Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter. I will await your timely...
