Pretty amazing experience. It feels like the Mos Eisley cantina only a bit less shady. The droid DJ animatronic (who used to be the pilot of Star Tours) is cool and plays great music (he even played a remix of the original cantina song which was awesome).
So for the ambiance 10/10 as it's like the real thing. But... the organization of it all is a nightmare. When you get into the park you better RUN to get in the RSVP list otherwise you'll never experience it. To top it off, good luck getting a booth. We got placed at a standing table after a long day of walking around the park. It would have been very easy to have small stools but nope, if you are at the bar or standing tables, you'll be drinking standing up, which is ridiculous. Furthermore you cannot bring your drinks (even non alcoholic) outside, so just stand and curse the makers. We eventually got a booth after complaining enough near closing time and that's the true experience. I just hope they get their organization together because right now, it's just amateurish.
Now for the drinks. So it's the only place to get booze in Disneyland (the actual park) and the selection is totally alien. So you don't really know what you are going to get, but that's part of the fun. Their selection of non alcoholic drinks is also equally interesting (and kid friendly).
On the non alcoholic side, we tried: 5/10 Cliff Dweller (non alcoholic in Porg souvenir mug) which is basically a juice with lots of ice. The only cool thing is the mug for a +4, otherwise it's a disappointment at 1/10.
7/10 Jabba juice is a green fruity drink with popping pearls which is refreshing and interesting. Probably the best tasting out of the drinks.
10/10 Carbon Freeze. Now THIS is the COOLEST drink you'll ever be served. You have to get this even if you won't drink it. The kid that was with us ordered 3 in a row, so it must be good also. It's a concoction made of liquid, popping pearls and dry ice which makes the drink smoke up in fumes, the pearl balls are bubbling all over and the drink actually SHAKES in your hands from all the commotion. It looks so cool and alien that you will feel you're on a different planet drinking some bizarre and dangerous drink.
7/10 Olga's obsession is not really a drink but a jello plate with popping pearls and rocket fizz candies. It's.. weird and a sugar rush that only kids and sugar freaks will appreciate.
Now on for the alcoholic drinks we tried:
10/10 Yub Nub in a souvenir ewok mug. Ridiculously overpriced at $42 but definitely delicious and you get to keep the mug.
9/10 Bespin Fizz is the red colored alcoholic equivalent of the Carbon Freeze so again VERY COOL to see the volcano drink bursting with smoke and agitation. But the non alcoholic version tasted better.
6/10 Our neighbors ordered the flight of beer which is crazy overpriced but looks awesome as you get to keep the souvenir flight. Then again, it's just beer... nothing special there.
So, if you can go. You definitely should and at a minimum order a carbon freeze to get the full show. Right now it's a novelty spot so it is a cool place to try, but I'm probably not going to return due to the terrible organization of the bar.
Pro tip: Right now, the souvenir mugs (Porg Cliff Dweller, beer flight and Yub Nub) are in the 1st year edition. So if you want a valuable collectable, now is the time...
Read moreI was so excited to try this place as a big Star Wars fan and I was so disappointed that it nearly ruined my trip to Disneyland.
First of all, I just want to warn anyone if you haven’t been, there is a likely chance that you won’t get to sit down. My group was lucky enough to have a table, but most of this place is standing room only. This was my sister’s second time here, both times with reservations made weeks in advanced and the first time she went, she still had to stand. I don’t understand why they don’t have stools at the bar. I can’t imagine walking around and standing in lines all day at Disneyland and then wanting to take a break and have a nice drink and then finding out I have to stand.
We made a reservation weeks in advanced for 4:50 pm and arrived just before 4:40 make sure check in went smoothly. We weren’t seated until 5 pm, but with my whole party being either current or former service industry workers we understood and weren’t upset by this. As we were seated we were told about the 2 drink maximum and 45 minute time limit which seemed reasonable. But once we were seated, the experience went downhill. Our server didn’t come to us for at least 10 minutes, which is pretty substantial when we only have 45 minutes in the place. When he did come over, he didn’t even introduce himself or say anything and just stared at us until my sister spoke up and said what she wanted. It was incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. It took another 10-15 minutes for our food and drinks to come out and we asked for napkins, as everything is eaten with your hands, and our servers seemed like it was the most absurd request. When he finally brought them, he brought an unnecessarily huge stack of them and just threw them at the table and walked away. We were ready for another drink but we couldn’t find him and when he finally came back his tone completely changed and he started telling us about a cookie he was eating in the back, so now we know what took so long. And when we started to order our last round he stopped us and said we were over our time limit. This was so infuriating, as most of our time was spent waiting for our server. I completely understand him needing a break, but someone should have been available to take his place while he enjoyed that cookie that took him 20 minutes to eat. When we spoke to a supervisor about our poor experience she didn’t seem to care at all and it really just put a damper on the Disney feeling. They said we could come back later in the day to try to have a better experience but after this, I had no interest in wasting more time or money in coming back.
We went over to downtown Disney after to have actual food and a few drinks, which was a lot more affordable and we received far better service, so I would recommend doing that over going to Oga’s cantina. It’s such a shame because it was something I was really looking forward and has ruined my perception of Galaxy’s...
Read moreMy husband and I attended on September 12th and had reservations at 7:30pm. I have attending before with some friends and I would definitely rate my experience when they first opened a 10/10 .
The second time this evening when I attended the customer service was very rude. We were celebrating my birthday, and it was my husbands first time there so he was so excited, and I was excited to show him.
The first thing we noticed there were no chairs to sit on at the bar. When we asked if we could grab a chair the waiter jokingly made a comment that we could find them if you go down , then right and then left and keep going down. Obviously I knew he was joking so I kinda just brushed it off ! One of the older waiters with red hair was very rude when serving us made a comment with his comment regarding the chairs. I work in hospitality and I truly love communicating with customers, and recommending new things and going out my way to help. I was so caught off guard with their rude comments for the price of their items we definitely expected nice service.
When the older lady with red hair was making drinks I overheard her talking about another group very rudely. (In any customer service especially in front of people to talk rudely about them is so sad especially during this time when people are excited to get back into the world and go to Disneyland)
Then my husband and I ordered two drinks and noticed the table was empty so we sat down for less then 5 minutes. One of the waiters had no problem with us sitting there while we finish our drinks. Then one of the male waiters told us very rude and firm “if you order drinks they can not be brought to a table, and we could not sit there at all.” I totally understand, but if you’re working on customer service it could definitely be addressed nicer. We apologized , as we didn’t know since their were no signs and it was never brought to our attention that it wasn’t allowed. We moved right away, but then we saw the “exit” sign and he said “hey hey ! That’s not the exit you have to go around !!” We apologized and I said “I’m so sorry I saw it said exit so I assumed I could exit from there.” He then said “we’ll if you could see it also says employees only.” I kept walking out, because I wasn’t trying to start a argument.
Honestly the customer serviced ruined our Disney day at the cantina. We spent a lot of money and we definitely expected at least nice Disneyland customer service. I felt like their customer service could have been a lot nice. It was the way they said things and their tone. As I mentioned I work in customer service, and I’ve never experienced service like this in my life.
I’ve been a pass holder for years and this was the worst customer experience at Disneyland or any other amusement park.
I’m rating the two starts for the drinks ! The drinks were...
