I am a pho connoisseur, and can honestly say this was the worst pho I have ever had the displeasure of eating. Allegedly, the broth is "simmered for 40 hours" okay, cute, but it tastes like nothing. Literally would have had a better experience if they put a Ramen seasoning packet in it. Something. Anything. Tasted more like a weak herbal tea than anything resembling soup. The meat was literally equivalent to maybe 1-2 oz, and it was very tough, gristly, and a really poor cut. I didn't fault them for putting cilantro on the top instead of on the side, but there should have maybe been some beansprouts, and Thai basil as well. The place was absolutely sweltering, even in late fall, so it's fortunate, perhaps, that the broth was luke warm, at best. A tepid and bland soup befitting of a Victorian child recovering from scarlet fever, would be the best description, honestly. It was $11, which is a cheap price point, and I would have forgiven most of the other sins if the (approx <1.5 cups of broth) actually tasted like anything. I never use hoisin sauce in my pho, but I'm pretty sure my pho was 50% hoisin sauce by the end, as I was just trying to salvage the meal. The atmosphere was cute but claustrophobic, the service was meh, but again the ambient temp was way too hot, as other reviews have mentioned. We visit Ann Arbor every few months, and try to get in a foodie experience. Highly disappointed we wasted our dining choice on this. Pic of the "limes" we were given between both of our pho bowls. Like, if that's the best you can do, don't even bother, because this is just an insult to injury. 🙄 Just terrible all around.

Holy bajeebus! I am so happy to finally be able to review Ginger Deli's storefront operation. Many moons ago, I was able to grab a tasty banh mi from their old location off of Liberty. Then came Covid, halting their relocation and putting a serious dent in my ability to quench cravings for yummy Vietnamese. I moved away for a year, came back, yada yada yada and just assumed my dream would never come to fruition. Today I was walking by Liberty on my way downtown and caught a sandwich out of the corner my eye. I knew immediately what it must be and abandoned what I was doing to fulfill my carnal desire for yummy tofu, pickled goodness, fresh bread and tasty aoili. WORTH THE WAIT - service was beyond exceptional, the sammy was reasonably priced, fresh, on point, delicious, alllllll the words. I'd have taken a picture but I ate it on my walk home and destroyed the evidence. So glad to see this spot back in action - see you every week for the rest of my life. Love, Max Edit: added pic from this weeks edition, now feature “extra everything” - slapped even harder

Ok, so I don't normally give such a low review but to be quite frank this was by far the WORST phó I have ever had and I've been eating phó for a VERY long time. I give credit where credit is deserved and here the only credit they deserve is the pleasantly simple atmosphere and the seating outside. Now the service was 😐neutral. No bathrooms anywhere I turned to look. Now, food. The broth was Decent but the noodles and the beef tasted like cardboard. The noodles mushed up in our mouths and it just didn't have the rice noodle texture phó noodles are like. No bean sprouts, no basil no side of lime they just threw a pice of lime in my broth. So disappointing and had it been a different setup I would have asked for a refund and I NEVER do that. On a brighter note the bhan mi seems to be popular, maybe I should've tried that. Smh.

My friend took me to Ginger Deli over the spring, and I am super grateful! I've tried the pancetta banh mi, vegetarian banh mi, spring rolls, snomazing, pho (the broth was really good!), and thai ice tea - practically everything, and have continued to be impressed over and over =). All the ingredients used are fresh. The spring rolls are a great choice for an afternoon snack or even as an appetizer to the banh mi and pho, and the peanut sauce is light and creamy and definitely adds to the taste, but a key plus is that you can choose between three types of sauces for a different flavor each time you try it. The snowmazing is perfect for hot days in the summer weather and really refreshing. Excited to try out the rest of their flavors! And I literally can't get enough of the Thai ice tea and need to order it with every meal I eat there- it's not too sweet, so it doesn't distract from the tastes of the actual meals =). On a side note, I can honestly say that the packaging for take-outs is absolutely beautiful (They use a creatively designed fold-up carry case that can be recycled instead of using plastic bags- another plus for the environmentally concerned). Food was served very quickly, and I always get excellent recommendations on what else I should try each...
