Last night, I was racially profiled at Joe's. It was a busy night, and one of the workers told people to hurry and place their orders to lose the rush. As it took a long time to place an order, it took even longer to pay. For that reason, people's orders were holding up space on the counter, and the same employee then told everyone to take their orders while still waiting in line to pay. The employee questioned if one girl paid because he didn't see her pay even though he was busy putting pizza in the oven and giving it to the customers. Though that was a situation in itself, I minded my business. Later, my and a couple of customers before me orders were done. Since the same employee was telling people to take their orders to leave counter space for the next orders, I took mine while staying in line to pay. The employee then yells at me - the only African American to pay - to return my order and stay in line. I tried to disregard him because of the situation with the previous customer, but I was the only person told to put my order back. After that experience, it was my first and last time going to Joe's, which serves greasy pizza and has trash...

When the pizza was 30 minutes late I called them and they told me the pizza was out for delivery. My place is less than 10 minutes from Joe's and 15 minutes later I still did not have the pizza and so I called them back and they said again don't worry it's out for delivery. Then after it is an hour late I called Door Dash and they said to call them back and I found out not only had my pizza not gone out for delivery, it had never even been made. Then instead of doing the decent thing of refunding my money or offering any sort of compensation they just said don't worry we actually made it this time and it is actually out for delivery. That was 15 minutes ago, an hour and a quarter after the pizza was supposed to be in my hands, and there is still no pizza and I am out the cost of the pizza and the very generous tip that I prepaid. As you can guess this will be the last time I even think of giving Joe's any of my business.

Read moreI'm a Sicilian chef who grew up in Chicago (I have duplicated Chicago tavern style pizza--The only Chicago pizza in my book so I KNOW thin crust and sweet sauce! my smaller pizza has 1lb of cheese like Chicago here the much bigger pizza has about 8oz for $24 seems way overpriced) So the woman at the register (not really clear how to order as a guy in the back asking what we wanted then said go to the register) was very polite, asked her what is the Sicilian because the menu says nothing but titles, I'm expecting some ricotta--if it's named Sicilian seeing how my grandma from Messina, Sicily I expect authenticity, she said well the crust is thick then asked same guy from the back what comes on it? he pointed to a big square piece of bread sitting on other pizza in the display dissatisfied nobody could sell me their pizza I went with a cheese+artichoke ($28) So the sauce was good (since I DO love sweet sauce growing up in Chicago) other than that it's a huge piece of bland crust sweet sauce and a little cheese even if in Ann Arbor again no reason to come here again or...
