Food and drinks: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service: 👎🏼
Food was very good, service was abysmal from the time I called ahead. The person on the phone seemed very disinterested. When I got there and was greeted by a young lady, I immediately recognized the voice from the phone. I asked her if we could get a table for six outside, she said “no” and walked away- a minute later, another young lady who heard us came over and said they could seat us, no problem.
Miss Disinterested took our orders. Tried making conversation, asked if she was Thai, she said she was Russian. I said “ok! I thought you were maybe Kazakh or Kirghiz” and I was excited because I speak a related language and thought that would have been a cool connection. Her face turned sour as if I wished an early death to her loved ones and the whole change in mood was palpable. When she walked away, one of my friends was like, “damn, what was that?!”
Some of my friends commented that she had a look each time she passed by the table (I didn’t see it). When we were done, we asked if she could split the check. She thought about it for a sec and then said “no”.
Later, we saw that the restaurant takes up to four credit cards per table, so she definitely could have split the bill for us. After we left, we saw that the bill had an automatic 20% gratuity PLUS the extra tip we left.
As we were leaving, we saw another table behind us with six people, so obviously a six-top is not an issue, but her attitude was.
Gave us a great recommendation for an ice cream place nearby, so...
Read moreHad the opportunity to check out Lemongrass while visiting Downtown Annapolis. The restaurant is tucked away from the main hustle and bustle of Annapolis, but within walking distance from the water and tourist attractions near the Navy Yard.
I was greeted and seated quickly. The staff members were exceptional and friendly. The restaurant is cozy with maybe a dozen tables inside and a few outside; great for a date. The food service was incredibly efficient, yet paced, where I didn’t feel rushed.
For appetizers, I tried the crispy green beans and crab rangoon. The crispy green beans came recommended and were excellent; salty, spicy, sweet, and crunchy. The crab rangoon, albeit priced slightly high for four wontons, was executed perfectly; definitely better than your average wonton and justified the price. Entrees consisted of pad Thai and masaman curry. Each tasted very fresh and were prepared flawlessly with great flavors and a generous portion. For dessert, the fried ice cream was something different and a perfect sweet treat to wrap up an excellent meal.
When considering the food, service, atmosphere, and cost, I have no complaints and thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Lemongrass. I would absolutely return and would recommend visiting Lemongrass to anyone looking for exceptional Thai...
Read moreI came here on a Friday night with a group of 8 in advance of a nearby event. There were several people eating both inside and out on this beautiful fall night, but we did not have to wait for a table. Staff was very friendly and charming.
We split a series of appetizers - the crab rangoon, the chive cakes, and crispy tofu. The Rangoons were tasty, and the chive cakes and tofu were both solid. Although for me, the sauces were more delightful and flavor-full than the food itself.
For dinner, we each got our own plates/bowls. I went with the Chicken Khoa Soi expecting lots of good spice and flavor. Unfortunately, while tasty and overall solid, I didn't really get much spice or flavor outside of the coconut milk-based broth and a hint of lime. The lack of stand-out flavor could have likely been my own fault for getting chicken rather than beef, pork, or shrimp, but I still left a bit disappointed that I didn't get more of a taste of the chilis. I needed to add significant spice from the spice rack to enhance the flavor of the dish.
Overall I had a solid experience and would be willing to try other items on the menu. Would be OK recommending to anyone looking for some solid Thai food that is a bit averse to the traditionally...
