Crazy good, awesome low key spot ideal for before a show at the PAC or music downtown. The food was so good! I forgot to take a pic, shoot. We had the empanadas- they were the best I’ve ever had. The flaky dough is perfect, the seasoned chicken (top notch) and some kind of mild sauce it was well...... I want more now. I was talking about how I wanted a gigantic one like a football and just leave me alone, it was that good.
Watermelon with goat cheese and honey was awesome between the apps and entree! Refreshing, I was really surprised how much I liked it (love pineapple, nah on goats cheese not a fan at all)!
I don’t write these much so sorry bear with me, I only do so when a place deserves it and the two chefs have it right already. I think they even make the pasta there, Carmella’s doesn’t do that. I had the chicken Parmesan for entree and it was amazing. I do like a good crunch on it and this one was so good! Maybe Panko? It was clear someone took a lot of time on it. And it was perfect for me, pounded out to just a huge slab of perfectly cooked crunchy chicken. Pasta was al dente and amazing and Alfredo was smooth and nice, not overpowering the chicken shone over perfect past basically. Plenty of cheese too for sure, sometimes I ask for extra. Lol. Not needed I loved it, and I was quite full! Too much for desert, this time....
I’ll be back in a few days, this is one of those just handful or less of restaurants in Appleton that are gems. I’m not from Appleton originally, in fact I’m a FIB; the reason for writing so extensively is this is a place I’m proud to have in our town. Two cool ass chefs from two different walks in life doing what they love. Both stopped at our table to check on us and have a quick chat. I wish these guys and their crew the best!...
Read moreWow!!!!!! I am kicking myself again for not getting here sooner. Located in a beautiful old building downtown Appleton, this long, narrow restaurant offers a wonderful ambiance with big windows at the front, a fully stocked bar (with the best bloody's and mimosas) and the right amount of seating to keep it cozy and private yet functional for them to fill the place up. Dined in for breakfast, skipped the local coffee and went right to the cocktails that were hand made and delicious. I added the empanada to my bloody Mary and was glad I did, absolutely delicious and such a cool touch. My wife had the floral mimosa that was perfectly light and tasty. She ordered the cheese risotto cake- this dish was slightly sweet served with avocado and a poached egg, it was very pleasant to eat with the flavors balancing perfectly! I had the daily scramble feature- cast iron Pan loaded with caramelized onion, potatoes, fluffy eggs, sausage, cheese, and avocado on top with a nice thick slice of buttered sourdough. Everything was fantastic from service, food, ambiance, and price. We can't want to get back for dinner, this is a must try for anyone!
*Went back today for the lemon ricotta pancakes- marvelous! Perfect about of berries and lemon flavor that pair perfectly with the fluffy pancakes. The coffee is the best, I went with the quinoa ball that had sweet potato, red pepper, Maple chili, vinaigrette, arugula, and spinach in it. Topped with a fried egg. That too was perfect and super filling. My wife went with the salmon BLT sandwich served on a perfectly toasted brioche bun, and loaded with flavor served with the side of the tomato soup which was fantastic. You gotta get here- service, did and ambiance...
Read moreWent here with high expectations. They had just got their liquor so the selection was small. Decent wine and beer list. Had one drink then sat down. It was my wife and my anniversary so they seated us by the window...nice! We usually do a soup and salad before our main dish but the only soup was carrot and their salads were entree salads. No garden or small side salads. So we decided to get a few apps instead. The bread basket was $6...the bread was no better than the free bread I have eaten at other places. The Brussel Sprout appetizer was cold and had to be reheated before we ate it. It was very tasty after that. The tenderloin empanada was okay. Kind of tasted like ground beef taco meat. The red pepper sauce on the top was good. I got the scallop dish. Very large scallops cooked perfectly. Needed salt though...roasted cauliflower was decent but again, not very warm. They made a nice design on my plate that looked like a seashell with a sauce. I tasted it. It was cold and I could not tell what it was. I had to look at the menu when I got home to see what it was...parsnip puree. My wife got the tenderloin. The steak was high quality and cooked perfectly. The potato was cooked fine but lacked flavor. There was a port sauce all over the whole plate...the food was drowning in it. It kind of tasted like beef roast?? It did not accentuate the steak. From everything I heard, I was hoping for a 5. Had to give a 3. The waiter...
