Over the past two years, I have supported this business and ordered juices from this place several times a month for delivery. (Yes, I have proof.) A few months ago, I decided to place my order for pick up so I can check out the place as I had moved closer to them. When I walked in, the energy was unwelcoming. I let the employee at the register know that I was there to pick up my order as it said it was ready for pick up. She looked my order up, said it wasn't ready yet and that they're making it now, pointing to another employee who was actively making drinks. I took no issue to that delay, and asked where I should wait for my drink. She directed me to the right side and said it'll be placed on that side, and i can grab it from there. The employee who was making the smoothies overheard and made direct eye contact with me. So, I waited, and waited, and waited. Several minutes had passed and the people that came in after me were moving in and out so I started looking around for my order on different areas of the counter. I go back to the side where my order was taken and, it's not there either. Mind you, the employees are watching me, actively look for my order, going back-and-forth between counters and at no point did anyone ask me anything. I finally caught up with an employee and asked for my order. The employee asked me for my name, which I provided, and then she goes to the opposite side from where I was told to stand to retrieve my order, finds it and brings it it over to me. It was placed there by the same person who heard me being told my order would be on the right side.
If you're a person of color, you know that these type of behaviors are not coincidental - just your standard micro-aggression. I was disgusted. My weekly orders turned to 0.
Last month, I gave them another chance. The downtown Farmers Market, held on the same street of the juicery, was closing for the day; so, the streets were still blocked off meaning no traffic. In fact, when I walked in, there were no customers and the employees were huddled in the doorway of the back. As I opened the door, they all scattered and squeezed themselves through the back entrance, and the last one who could not fit, made their way to the front to take my order. Again, it was awkward, unfriendly and uncomfortable.
Since I was already there, and dragged my baby with me, I just purchased two juices, and vowed to...
Read moreI never leave reviews, but am just a little disappointed in the service I received today while picking up a few things to bring home. I went in during the farmers market and had some things in my hands that I already picked up. I went to the case to grab 2 juices & some energy balls! When I checked out I asked the girl for a bag to be able to carry it back to my car, she gave me a bag and I was trying to pick it up from the bottom because I knew it was heavy with the juices in it. Unfortunately, in the process of trying to pick it up from the bottom it broke and the glass juice bottles fell onto my feet & the floor :( Glass went all over in my sandals and all over the floor creating a mess - I felt terrible and kept saying I was so so sorry! They reassured me that it was okay. I went and grabbed just one juice from the cooler because I felt so bad that the 2 just broke all over my feet and floor and was obviously embarrassed since it was quite busy In the store because of the farmers market. The thing that I was a little disappointed in was when I went back up, the girl checking me out didn’t offer to let me just take that one juice in replacement for the one that broke on accident or even offer a slight discount for it. I understand it was my fault for trying to grab the bag from the bottom - but still was a little disappointed because in the end, I paid $25.58 for 2 juices, and every balls. And after being charged for another juice to replace 1 that just broke I paid $9.50 so in total I paid $35.08 to leave with 1 pack of energy balls...
Read moreFirst time visiting, I ordered the egg-celent and I requested an additional egg for an up charge. I was given only one egg initially so I explained I ordered an extra egg with the toast, it was a simple mistake that was fixed within a few minutes by them making another but I was not thrilled to find out they use a microwave to poach the eggs. I know many people may not find an issue with this but I do not use a microwave at home and I avoid eating foods cooked with a microwave. Minus my concern about the microwaved egg the flavor combination of the avocado, goat cheese and pickled red onions on the toast was delicious! Would definitely order it again without the egg.
I also got the reishi maple cold brew and that was excellent. Before leaving I ordered the Thai chili bone broth and it was also good but I asked one of the young lady’s working if the to go cup it was served in was bpa free and she said she did not know and asked her other co workers and none of them knew either. It would be nice to know if a hot broth is being served in bpa free cup or not.
*Updated to 5 stars after the owner’s response, I appreciate the quick reply and glad to know the cups are free of BPA & PFAS. I’m looking forward to...
