Denny's — Restaurant in Arcadia

This place has only gone further and further down hill. This location has disappointed me so many times over the years. I kept coming back because it's just an easy place to go to. the service is always bad. You can tell the servers don't want to be there. Like I get it, it's not a great upstanding job but I'm not a very mean or picky customer. I think this was my last time coming in.

The server I had talked kinda fast and with his accent I had to really listen in on what he meant. Even my boyfriend looked at me like "what did he say?" We tried not to give him a hard time though so we just continued on. I ordered the new Cali Burrito. After a few bites I couldn't believe how much cilantro there was. I told the server later on my burrito had so much cilantro in it, and even showed him the pile on my plate. He gave me a strange look like told me " yeah. So next time, just ask for less. They tend to do that with the cilantro." Like??? Issa new item, how was I supposed to know?? I dont mind some cilantro (like it says on the description) but it was used like a lettuce . The whole burrito didn't even hold up on it's own! i had to rewrap it to hold it together to eat it. I didn't even finish first half I started. Not to mention, the flavor was basic. Save your money. I try not to blame the servers for what the kitchen does but I was clearly not okay with what I got and wasnt offered anything else.. Not a remade burrito or a different item to replace it. My mother and I decided to treat my decorated Vietnam era disabled Uncle to a breakfast of his choice at either IHOP, Norm's or Denny's. He chose Denny's The three of us had breakfast at this Denny's because of my previous visits versus my experiences to one nearer our homes. It was the first time all 3 of us were totally dissapointed by not only the meal itself but by the service. Once the meal was served, we were never checked on. We were asked if we wanted more coffee but only after I stopped the waitress requesting that my cold hard hash browns be replaced. The only other time we saw her was when she dropped off the check, never asking if we wanted anything else. The meal itself was lukewarm. We had ordered the grand slam and the eggs and cheese were not mixed but the cheese just thrown on top and not even melted. The sausage and bacon were cool, the bacon being paper thin and greasy. The hash browns were cold and hard. They were not shredded potatoes, but riced potatoes and were an extremely small portion. The coffee itself was only a half cup. The only thing we could think was maybe the meal was the way it was, was because the Grand Slam was being touted as the current special on recent TV ads. As for the service, it could have been a lack of staff or training. The only plus was that the pancakes I ordered were served hot with plenty of butter. The location recently re-opened after the completion of their interior renovation, which looks fresh and modern. The food was delicious, however since they recently re-opened with new staff the kitchen was slow. I hope that in the near future that will improve. My family came during the early part of the evening and was seated quickly, however towards the end there was a wait but not all the booths were filled, the reason was that the kitchen was backed up. Fortunately, our server was Alicia and she attended to us very well. She spoke calmly and clearly, communicated to us if there was anything on the menu we wanted to order was no longer available and patiently waited for our updated food selections. Our coffees were also refilled frequently, which we appreciated. Last note, the cashier (male) was inexperienced and was easily flustered.
