My wife and I were married there (in the parking lot) on December 11, 1971. Jerry Cook and Jerry Yeider the owners at that time (retired jockeys) astroturfed the parking lot, covered it over with a large circus type tent, and brought in white wrotiron furniture. They had an old English taxi that they chauffeured us in, and they provided us with 2 nights at the Pasadena Hilton in the bridal suite. It was a class act by two class act owners. Flowers, cake, two bartenders, 3 cocktail waitresses, many guest (a lot of jockeys from Santa Anita) will included. Channel 5 news was there and later shown the wedding that evening on TV.
We were nobody special at the time, just a couple of good customers who had met there, and I later gave my wife her engagement ring there as well. So, it was only fitting that we got married there.
Cookie and Yeider promised that they would do it up right provided we would get married during racing season.
