Tea Maru — Restaurant in Arcadia

I love Tea Maru drinks because the boba is made fresh. However, this Arcadia location is very inconsistent. I have come here at least five times, and always order the strawberry slush. This past time I visited on a Sunday afternoon, and the worker seemed rather unhappy. The strawberry slush should have boba, slush, and ice cream on top, but he made my drink incorrectly, without any ice cream. When I brought this to his attention, he simply said, “Oh, I must have forgot. I can give it to you in a cup.” I was very disappointed with the service I received and will be going to the San Gabriel location in the future.

Update: November 2024. I ordered the strawberry slush again and reminded the employee it comes with ice cream, so she gave it to me. However, they were out of strawberry boba and substituted mango boba without...

The place is clean and spacious but looks too plain and lacks any decorations or styles. The store itself is hard to find and basically, is at the corner of the inside building (back of the 24Hr fitness separated by an alleyway). There was only one server in the store where he was to take orders, answer phone calls, and take online orders, plus prepare all the drinks. The drink was pretty tasty and the boba was fresh, just that he only gave me very little of the taro puree where I can't even taste it after two sips but those two tiny sips were delicious. The matcha tea foam on top was also rich and creamy. I ordered less sweet, less ice, with organic milk.

Overall, it was an ok experience since they are using handmade boba and organic milk, which I think is part of their signature...

Food/Pricing - Taro Storm ($6.25) and Uji Matcha Cheese Foam w/ Lychee Jelly ($6.40). Taro Storm seemed to have real bits of taro in it and was pretty tasty. I typically enjoy matcha anything but I felt that there was too much happening in this drink combo of cheese foam and matcha.

Service/Ambiance - Very friendly service and there was a line but it went by fairly quick! From what I saw, they seemed to make their boba fresh (you see the little machine shooting out little tapioca balls) and in house which is pretty neat.

Will I be back? Yes if I'm nearby! I'd like to try the other drinks, especially the matcha minus cheese foam. I recommend giving this...
