My partner and daughter liked their food but I didn't like mine. I should of known not too order breakfast as most restaurants reheat their breakfast for brunch menu, but my son likes and eats breakfast better so I gave it a try. My pancake was literal rubber on one side. Zucchini fries were soo bomb though which made up for the breakfast. When we first arrived I asked for a highchair for my son and they brought me the worst highchair I've ever seen (atleast the buckle worked). I literally went and got my own clorox wipes I keep in the car. The wipe was brown when I finished and super nasty. Service was friendly but didn't care to take ur order. When we got there it was super slow and empty. By the time our food came it had already been a good hour it started to pick up. Check took forever and when we received it each tab had automatic gratuity equaling 34$ (2checks). Server came a total of 3 times within almost 2-3 hours. Which time frame spent wasn't our choice as it was an hour to get our food and we ate and then another span of time waiting to get the check. I paid and won't be back. I wouldn't be mad if I hadn't received below mediocre service and place wasnt dirty. Places like that gratuity is a personal choice. Our table was simple and I always pick up after before we leave and she still probably would of made 20$ but a forced gratuity that wasn't mentioned on any menu or within the restaurant which allows ur servers and staff to give mediocre service is frustrating and non appealing to me. I didnt pick up one plate nor pick up after my son this time. Thats for sure. If a place chooses to place grutuity then at least staff ur place to allow proper customer service. As well as have a manager staffed to ensure waitress arent sitting infront of the window chatting and service standards...
Read moreMy last review was pre-pandemic and not well-rated (2 stars), so I figured it was time to update things.
The layout of the place hasn't changed. Lots of open space, bar in the middle, with the kitchen behind it. A corner which I believe used to be off track betting but now is just a place to watch sports. There's an outdoor patio which I've never been on but is adjacent to the street. One pinball machine, one video game.
Our waiter was a younger guy, extremely friendly, kind and patient. He gave us time to peruse the menu and brought us two waters without being asked. We asked some questions about the menu and both decided on taco salads with brisket. (We had also ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, but he apparently forgot to ring them in so we didn't worry about it.)
The brisket was flavorful, tender, and complimented the salad quite well. I wasn't a huge fan of the jalapeno dressing but it did add some kick to things. Our server came back to check on us gave us refills and didn't push us to ask for the check or leave. A very friendly fellow.
Given this new experience and how well it went, I have no choice but to change my rating to four stars. It loses one star for some of the other patrons who tended to be loud and obnoxious but they were far enough away that it didn't greatly disturb my dining...
Read moreMy server Maya was amazing. She was so kind and did her job well. She made sure I had everything I wanted and was comfortable. Clearly she takes pride in doing her job. I had a burger and fries. The burger was big and good. The fries were very awesome. I think I would have to protest if they changed those fries. The prices are pretty high, but I will return to try more of their menu. My only complaint is how unwelcome I felt when I first came in. This has always been a problem with this building because of their hallway entrance, but lighting it up would really help attack new people. But when I first walked in the bartender just looked at me. I even walked up to the bar and said hi. My greeting was returned with a blank stare. It was so uncomfortable that I just thought about leaving. I watched and saw that she was very nice to every one who was a regular at the bar. I used to be a bartender for many years, so I understand the importance of keeping regulars at priority. But to very obviously show that you do not care about anyone else discourages me from coming back and potentially becoming a regular myself. I suggest you go to Putneys, you should skip the bar and sit at a table...
