Sadly our Joe's on Little Road in Arlington closed after 20 years and we were really nervous about trying another one. It's been our go-to when I don't want to make lasagna at home or when Mama wants eggplant for dinner and for special occasions. I will say the flavors here are different but the lasagna is still a very, very good lasagna. My son ate the whole thing at the table with no take-home box needed!
They also have really tasty spinach and pepperoni pinwheels!!! I was very impressed. The calzone and stromboli are very tasty and filling. The side of bread was not that impressive. It just seemed like store bought French bread but my son enjoyed it. I will miss Pllumb's huge homemade rolls with garlic and butter that he served with every meal. Those were a meal in themselves even though they were "served with".
This location is on Matlock and I20 which is a few miles further into Arlington for us, and is in one of the busier areas, but we will be making the trek a couple times a month or so. It's definitely worth it.
The service was fantastic. The people are all friendly and the restaurant had more business than one would expect so late on a Wednesday night. You can tell they treat their customers well. New ones and the regulars. And they seem to have quite a few regulars.
I'm really sad to see Pllumb and his family close our Joe's but we are pleased to find this one on Matlock and I20. Go check them out. I hope you enjoy them as...
Read moreWe went to Joe’s Pizza Pasta & Subs because I wanted pizza and my husband wanted veal parmigiana. He’s had difficulty finding restaurants that still serve veal, so he was more than ready to try this new-to-us place.
I ordered a large pepperoni and mushroom pizza, which had a delicious crust, made in the restaurant and stretched by hand. The crust was crispy and thin under the generous toppings. The pizza sauce was not too spicy, and was perfect with the pepperoni. I was surprised that the pizza wasn’t greasy from the pepperoni, especially since most of it came home with us. I loved it, even without reheating!
The veal parmigiana was in several pieces, breaded and crisped before being blanketed with a savory marinara sauce and covered with lots of mozzarella. It was baked until the mozzarella was browned at the edges. As generous as the serving was, my husband ate every bit, including the side of spaghetti with marinara and the bread baked in-house.
An older gentleman, who may have been the owner, took our order and brought our meal to the table. He took the time to have brief conversation with us, even though they were busy with a lunch crowd. We saw several people who greeted by name by the gentlemen who took the orders and prepared the food. I think we’ll get to be regular customers, too, and I plan to try the fettucine alfredo next visit.
We highly recommend this neighborhood establishment, located across Matlock from Fry’s...
Read moreLesh hung up on me because I wasn't placing my pizza order fast enough. I called back and first he lied and said it was an accident but then and strangely enough he confessed that he hung up because I was going to slow with my order . I looked at the time of the call on my cell phone and it was literally less than ONE minute . I couldn't believe the nerve of this guy. I was thinking with how strange of snow interaction this was that possibly drugs was an issue . Anyway though this was a company order I was going to place of 400.00 worth of pizza and we have ordered from Joe's pizza pasta and subs many times as well as alot of people have ordered from there individually from our company all the time but guess what ? Joe's pizza pasta and subs is no longer allowed in our building , meaning no more orders to be placed from there which has got to be thousands of dollars every month in revenue they just lost ALL because Lesh thought my under one minute phone call was going to slow in my decision making on our company order. Great job Lesh ! OH and I wouldn't be surprised if he lied about his name because at first he wasn't going to give me his name when I called back. SO it was the manager on duty on 07/25/18 at 3:15 pm is the person I spoke with. He was the guy in charge of the entire store. Huge...
