I have been visiting Taco Cabana for their breakfast, since I was a kid. I know what to expect from this chain and this store is lacking, EXTREMELY.
This morning I went to pick up breakfast for my guys. After ordering at the drive-thru menu I pulled up behind ONE other vehicle.
As this vehicle pulled away, the driver stopped short, blocking me from approaching the window. I looked to see why the driver stopped; they were trying to put trash into the inconveniently placed trash can that was placed TOO close to the window, thus slowing service and was packed FULL of trash.
After paying for my food, I was asked to pull around by the doors because it will take "a couple minutes" to put together my tacos. This is understandable to a degree.
So I drive around and wait.
Not two minutes after I park near the front door; I see the employee that took my order, leave. I understand shifts end and people leave but she could have waited "a couple minutes" and helped out her team.
As I sit, waiting, I notice the overall cleanliness of the place is in desperate need of attention. It's not hard to clean windows and floors people.
After 20 minutes, I finally have my order delivered to me, and it all becomes clear... why it took so long to make 12 tacos.
The Food Service Specialist, the cook, the minimum wage chef, has such speed and energy that I could count the tides rising and falling to his foot steps.
There is "slow service" and then there is "SLOW SERVICE".
At this point, a five minute pit stop had taken me 25 minutes out of route and upon arrival and inspection I find that NONE of the tacos, in my TC's Way box, are labeled. Not a big thing if you didn't come to expect the slightest modicum of attention to detail. But I really don't want mechanics fingers pulling open every taco to see what's inside. It's a dozen little stickers. Not hard to do.
Then I open the first taco... These are small tacos but they can hold FAR MORE than the tablespoon of filling I was given.
Needless to say, I'm going to have to speak to the manager EVERY time I go there, and I'd highly recommend getting some...
Read moreToday was the last straw. I moved into the area 6 months ago and this location is yet to get my order correctly. Today's missing item, for example, was kicking potato skins. It's a decent size box, hard to miss, yet they managed. A couple of months ago, I tried ordering ahead. They ignored an order I placed over the phone two hours in advance for a batch of breakfast tacos and didn't even start preparing them until I arrived to pick them up on my way to work. They made me late. But what really did it for me today, is that Taco Cabana decided to melt my face.
I have, once again, ordered steak fajita tacos with queso and roasted jalapenos. In the past, I received them with chicken, without queso, or just didn't get them at all. I keep hoping to get what is promised on the menu: several pieces of steak, drenched in tasty queso, spiced with finely diced roasted jalapeno. Picture from their menu is included for reference.
What I instead got today hidden in my tacos were chunks of raw, unseeded, uncooked jalapenos. Hell, let's be real: it was a raw jalapeno sliced in half. After I took a few bites and belatedly realized that I couldn't breath and my face was melting and I had to pull over, I took a photo of what was left in one taco. Notice half of raw jalapeno still left after I ate enough to start crying (and I eat habanero sauce for breakfast!). I unwrapped the other taco and discovered 3 chunks of raw, unseeded, unroasted jalapeno. See "expectations versus reality" photo; a quarter is included for size reference.
Potato skins, once I got them, also included chunks of raw, unseeded jalapenos. To be fair, the menu doesn't promise them roasted here, but they do promise "slices" and not "chunks." This just looks like lazy cooking.
Two stars and not one only because loaded queso, when they remember to give it to you, is awesome. I strongly urge anyone shopping here to check your order before leaving the counter or pulling away in your car. Chances are, it will be wrong, and if you ordered anything with jalapenos, your face will melt from biting into a huge...
Read moreI generally stop in the morning for my breakfast tacos. I ended up sitting in the drive thru lane for 20 minutes, even though there was only 4 cars ahead of me. Two of these vehicles ordered one or more boxes of the dozen tacos. I don't understand why these vehicles can't move around to the front of the building so that the line moves quickly. I love the food, but I hate the wait. Could have been at least a 4 star but too often I get stuck behind people too lazy to get out of their car for big orders. Management needs to have these people move their vehicles their keep the line moving.
Sept 21, 2018 This is absolutely ridiculous! Let me first say I love the food, but the management sucks. Every morning cars pull up to the drive thru and and order several dozen boxes of breakfast tacos. Instead of ordering, paying and moving to the front of the building, they wait in line at the window. 25 minutes this morning again because the staff did not tell these people to move around and wait in front of the building. Three cars, including mine, had to back out of the drive thru because the wait was so ridiculously long. It is not their fault that people are too lazy to get out of their cars and go into the store to place large orders, but it is their fault for not managing the cars in the line. This is not an isolated incident. Far too many times I have been in the line for over 15 minutes with only one or two cars in front of me. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, but the drive thru management...
