Public Review: Jenny Beauty Supply (Arlington, TX)
I have been a loyal customer of Jenny Beauty Supply since I was in middle school. Today, as a young professional who invests in and gives back to the Arlington community, I am appalled at the way this store continues to treat Black customers and even its own Black staff members.
The cashier in question, Mr. Han, has repeatedly displayed unprofessional, discriminatory, and outright insulting behavior. He has no problem speaking to customers in a demeaning tone, raising his voice, or even insulting people in Korean, assuming we cannot understand him. In my most recent visit, he told me I âmust have a hearing problem,â waved his hands in my face as though I were a child, and even called me âstupidâ in Korean. When I corrected him about the change he attempted to give me, he became combative instead of owning his mistake.
This is not an isolated incident. Black staff members themselves have openly stated that Mr. Han treats them as if they are inferior or imbeciles. If Jenny Beauty Supply is wondering why it has accumulated so many bad reviews, the answer lies in cashiers like him. A business cannot thrive while allowing one of its most visible employees to consistently disrespect and degrade the very community that sustains it.
Let me be clear: Black does not equal criminal. Black does not equal inferior. My money is just as green as anyone elseâs, and I refuse to be belittled while trying to support a business in my own city.
This behavior will not go unnoticed. As a member of the Arlington community, I will be: ⢠Filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. ⢠Bringing this to the attention of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. ⢠Encouraging fellow residents to leave honest reviews of their experiences online (Google, Yelp, Facebook) so the public sees the full picture. ⢠Calling on residents to boycott Jenny Beauty Supply until meaningful change is made in how this business treats its customers. ⢠Requesting that local organizations and city leadership review the practices of this store, including how it treats its staff.
Arlington deserves businesses that respect us, value us, and treat us with dignity. Jenny Beauty Supply has profited off of our community for years, yet allows its staff to disrespect and demean the very people who have kept its doors open. That time is over. We, as a community, are connected. We have power. And we will hold you accountable.
Until Mr. Han and others like him are held responsible for their actions and Jenny Beauty Supply makes real changes in how it conducts business, I will not be returningâand I strongly urge others in Arlington to join me in standing up for...
Read moreI am a regular customer of this store. Today I stopped by to get African black soap. Took two bars of soap and a brush to the front register. The kind lady with green bob cut rung me up and my bill came up to $39. I was confused since my soap said it was $4.99 and my brush was $1.99. I looked at the break down and to my surprise the soap was $7.99. I explained to the lady and said they are about 20 soaps all at the same prize and the big one is at $7.99. I can walk with you to show you. She called a chunky lady named Sharon who wore a red apron. The lady came and the green haired cashier told her to verify the price I showed her. I followed this heifer behind. Tell me why she didn't go verify the information she was given instead she went to price check it on the machine by the pole. I told her that's not what she was told. Told her to walk with me to the isle which she seemed annoyed by. I showed this heifer the soaps and the lazy heifer said," well they are placed under that prize because there is no space. I said, " No, truth is someone isn't doing their job busy texting and not changing tags. She wanted to change the prize right infront of me. We walked back to the register, and she told the cashier that was the right price. After being taken for a fool I decided to go to Uptown or American beauty were they have the right prices on display and are not fat liars. My request is yall make sure pig nosed Sharon with ugly highlights in her hair does her job. She is too busy texting and not stocking nor putting the right prices on the merchandise. It's stuff like this why black women are creating their own beauty supplies being taken for...
Read moreThis location is NOT as large as the Dallas location located off Cockrell Hill and Gannon Ln so do NOT assume this because you will be disappointed. Keep in mind the location in Dallas used to be a Target which gives them larger space than Arlington location which is in a smaller shopping center. I have bought a human hair wig before and it was 100% spent under $300 and it was 28 inches in length. The human hair wig selection is small about 15-20 wig styles and brands. The selection of synthetic wigs is bigger in volume but they are a bit over priced at $40 plus. The wig displays are not appealing at all it looks like they let people try them on and put the hair back on display themselves instead of going behind the customer and re-brushing back into attractive position. I have visited this location about 5 times within a 1 year period to test them out. I have NEVER seen their human hair bundles or tracksâŚhidden off or do not have selection which is unheard of for a beauty supply. There were 4 employees behind the register but they were not working just talking (personal conversation) The ladies in the back with the wigs were unhelpful and lazy literally just sitting around and two standing behind the employee door at the back talking. I spent a great amount of time looking for things myself. The customer service is bad. I would not go to this store so either buy online or go to a different beauty...
