My friends & I were in town for the Taylor Swift concert. Due to the long line, my sister in law and I went to the neighboring restaurant, Fatburger, and our friends came here. The patio areas are adjacent and as we had already ordered food, we were sitting at the burger joint's patio (less than 10 feet from Torchy's.) Our friend's went into Torchy's and ordered. After a bit of time had passed, our friend went in to check on their food and inquired about where we were sitting to make sure it was okay. The associate informed them their food had been made incorrectly so they had to remake it and the associate assured her our seats were fine. Less than 5 min later, a young woman came out and informed her that she could not sit at that patio area as the other restaurant steals their dishes. Our friend asked if after she received her food, could she come sit there and was told again (in a very rude and accusatory tone) that they always steal their dishes. The dishes are not even remotely similar and while this may be an issue, you do not air dirty laundry to your customers. Her attitude, tone, and behavior left a sour taste in all our mouths. We moved to the other side and when food was brought out, we inquired as to who she was (she was not wearing a name tag,) and were informed she was a manager. As a fellow manager, this left me flabbergasted! I would never DREAM of treating my customers in this manner, nor would I imagine pointing fingers at another company (competitor or not.) There were so many other ways this could have been rectified than to speak to guests in a condescending, accusatory manner. There may be bad blood between the two stores; however, when we mentioned our friends getting Torchy's at the burger restaurant, he stated he loved eating there and would get "to go" on his way home all the time! Obviously, if there is an issue, it needs to be solved between the two stores but you certainly don't speak to your guests in such a way that make them never want to visit your establishment (or any other Torchy's...

We're from Canada so we didn't really know the area. I hopped on Google and Yelp for a place that was open late and voila! This place popped up nearby as we kept heading up North Collins St.
We wanted to try most of the proteins to see which ones were the best so we ordered:
The Tipsy Chick The Hogfather Republican Democrat Mr. Orange Grilled Baja Shrimp
My fave was a tie between the Democrat (barbacoa taco) and the grilled baja shrimp taco. The meat in the barbacoa taco was the softest and tenderest. The shrimp taco had the best balance between sweetness of the shrimp and spicy from the sauce.
I think my least fave was the Tipsy Chick. The chicken was unfortunately not as moist as I would have liked. It was edging towards dry and there was also a lil bit TOO much cheese in the taco to the point where it was overpowering the taste of everything else (see pic).
It was on the pricey side for tacos if I'm being honest (but the tacos ARE also hefty and they aren't shy w/ the protein so ok I'll give it to them).
The employee working the register late night on sunday at this location is awesome (I didn't catch his name). He gave us 3 drink cups to go fill up at the drink machine but we only paid for 2 and tried to return a cup back to him but he told us it was ok because he saw that we were eating together and had 3 ppl! Great customer service.
They offer corn and flour tortilla choices for patrons AND you can also buy glass bottle mexican coke which is pretty cool. They also sell breakfast tacos but those ones don't look nearly as interesting as the regular taco menu.
Overall, very pleasant experience...
Read moreI had the most disrespectful experience at this location today. They got my order wrong multiple times. Unless just fixing it the first time they argued with me as if I haven’t been to this location multiple times and always get the exact same tacos. They put Rojas sauce on the meat even though when I ordered at the register I asked them to remove it. When I point it out the manager came over and told me it was meat grease not the sauce I was pointing out that I didn’t want. Eventually she agreed with me and fixed it but had multiple employees come over to my table laughing telling me how I should order my food next time. Then I asked for raw onions at the register and they gave me cooked onions and no cilantro like I ordered. I also ordered a Sauvignon blanc and when we point out that it’s missing to the manager she has an attitude and tells me there’s no way I ordered that . She goes in to say it was never on their menu and she’s going to go print out my receipt to show me I didn’t order that. When she goes to do that she realizes that was exactly what I ordered and offers to replace it with a Chardonnay. The whole experience was degrading and so humiliating I felt too uncomfortable to even finish my food there so I left. If you want your food done exactly how you like it I don’t recommend coming to this location. The link y’all told me to use doesn’t even work. You tried to rectify the situation...
