It is very rare that I give a one star review to a restaurant, but outside of the view there isn't much i can say positive about this place. I should have left before we were even seated, which was a 45 minute wait to do. I am in a wheelchair, and the hostess did absolutely NOTHING to lead us to our table, in a path that was accessible for my wheelchair. There were plenty of empty tables that she could of nudged a bit to make a path for me, but no, not even an attempt. Instead, I had to stop in front of other customers, awkwardly struggle to get out of my wheelchair, and use a cane to get the table, and my fiance pushed my folded wheelchair to the table. So much for relaxed, nothing like feeling like a spectacle! We were seated around 2:50pm, took until 3:30 to get one beer and one mixed drink. Unbelievably ridiculous, but to top it off no straw in my drink or alcohol for that matter!! $14 for a terrible drink!! Our waitress was nowhere to be found, so my fiance had to go on a search for a straw! He even passed right by our waitress, and she offered no assitance, although she saw him. My fiance did like his beer, it was his second choice the first one he ordered they were out of. Since it took so long to get our drink order placed, we ordered our appetizer and food at the same time to save time. I'm so glad we did, because our waitress was very inattentive. People that came in after us were getting their drinks and food before us. Their waitress kept checking on them etc. At 3:35 our app and food arrived. It was brought to our table by a food runner, not our waitress. We ordered one pork carnitas taco, three Al Pastor tacos, and a Jersey Street Corn the food was ice cold! My fiance literally spit the Al Pastor bite of taco out, declaring how disgusting it was! The one attempted bite I took at the carnitas was so dry and cold, that I had finally had enough!! We immediately sought out our waitress, kindly explained enough is enough. We have been embarrassed, ignored, made to wait, given poor service, and now the food is cold and awful! We don't want it, and don't want to pay for it. She apologized, but honestly didn't seem very phased by it at all. She offered to replace the meals, or remove it from bill. We offered to pay for our drinks, even though mine was awful, and she brought us a bill for just those drinks. In the time we were there I saw two other tables send back their drinks saying they were awful and undrinkable. We paid our $23 plus tip, and left extremely unhappy. Never again...I used to love Asbury Park. I did not like the vibe we got in this restaurant today. We felt...
Read moreMy fiancee and I eat a lot of Mexican food and we both agreed the food was delicious. I had the potato burrito with shrimp and she had the shrimp tacos. We also shared chips and queso. The prices are reasonable for both the location and the quality. If just for the food, we would go back to eat there often. However, the overall experience was poor enough that we won't be going back anytime soon. While the hostess was fantastic, the food service was otherwise very lackluster. When we went, it wasn't terribly busy. We asked for two extra sides of the cilantro crema - their version (and only choice) of sour cream. Not including when we placed the order, we had to ask two different servers (twice flagging our assigned server down, to which he seemed annoyed) an additional three times... total wait time was almost 15 min, and when our server finally brought it to us, he only brought one. By that time (he hadn't yet even checked on us), the food was cold. Without the cream, the food was a little dry, and if I continued to eat my meal without it, we would've been done and paid the bill before the cream was served. Something so small and easily avoidable ruined the experience. On a side note, we love Asbury and TOTALLY understand and are cool with the straw policy, but if your establishment is not going to offer straws upon request, you should go easy on the ice so it doesn't shift and spill the drinks on your customers. Also, ProTip: invest in small wooden stirrers for your mixed drinks. It's a shame for the poor service. We really did enjoy the food (at least when it...
Read moreWe were visited the establishment for lunch. At first we wanted a takeout. We paid and tipped. However, we decided to eat inside as it was too windy and cold outside. The restaurant hostess seated us, (a party of 6 adults and two 2 year olds) almost immediately. So far no issues and we were looking forward to enjoying our meal. Or so we thought. Boy, we were in for a rude surprise. The harrassment from the hotel staff started right after. We did not get any service and not even water was offered. We were almost invisible to the waiters. We were accosted by the Cashier lady who loudly proclaimed that we were not welcome to eat inside and could be asked to vacate our tables as, per her, we had walked in unwelcome and claimed the table ourselves. We explained to her that the hostess had escorted us and had indicated our table. We were asked to identify the hostess. All this while the mannerisms suggested that we were at fault for following their suggestions. Fortunately, the hostess, was honest and did confirm that indeed she had seated us. Even after all this, no apologies were offered for rudely interrupting our meal. Still no water was offered. This behavior was horrible and spoilt a Beautiful day out with our Children. Ah, the food; It was mediocre at best. Never again shall I visit this restaurant. Their hostile behavior and rude interactions are an affront to any civilized establishment. Visit at...
