My wife and I had lunch here. Food was fine and the service wasn’t entirely terrible…… UNTIL…. My wife and I were asked if we were on separate checks.
Issue #1…. I did refer to my wife as “my wife” in an audible tone and volume. Clearly, she didn’t hear us
Issue #2… The waitress had 3 other tables. All white couples. It’s not that she was unkind or rude to us but she was more friendlier and chattier with the other tables
Issue #3…. Now, issue #2 wouldn’t be so bad … BUT… two of her tables finished before us and WERE NOT ASKED for separate checks.
Now, before people dismiss this anecdote, all I can say is that my wife and I have been dealing with this for a long time. You could say that I’m highly attuned and observant when it comes to these things. I don’t believe in coincidence. My wife and I are a mixed race couple and have experienced this subtle act of racism. Believe us or not, I don’t care, your disbelief in no way, shape, matter, fashion or form diminishes the sting of this experience. For the record, my first wife was white and we NEVER…. NEVER were asked to split a check.
I think these waitstaffs should be trained better. Some restaurants do train there waitstaffs not to ask people to split checks. Basically, let the customer bring it up first. Just my 2¢
One last thing, for anyone who thinks that this is not a big deal, please hear this point out. When the waitress come, in this case, asks you if you want to split the check, that’s basically their way of saying “I didn’t think that you were a couple”. Because let’s face it couples don’t split checks. When was the last time a husband and wife or boyfriend and girlfriend or girlfriend and girlfriend, etc., split a check? It usually doesn’t happen. I honestly think that these situations are based on people’s personal prejudices. If that were not the case then she would ask everybody if they wanted to split the check or ask nobody at all. However, we watched her exercise her discretion and judgement when asking the question about splitting the check. She didn’t ask the white couples but she asked the mix race couple. You can draw your own conclusions from here. Again just my 2¢…. Now 4¢! Sorry if...
Read moreIf I could give this review 0 stars I would. From a current server I was extremely disappointed. My boyfriend and I arrived first but he went to the bathroom to freshen up and I sat at the table alone for about 10 mins before our server stopped and asked me what I wanted to drink. The same girl i saw walk by me numerous times and not say a word. She brought a coke and never came back until way after he sat down with me. We were meeting family and they got there. She treated them good. However, we were not treated well. We ordered two 2 for 25 meals. One app was chips and salsa which came out immediately and the other was the onion flower that came out 15 minutes AFTER. The people sitting next to us who came in a long time after us got their onion before us AND their dinner. I know those take only a few minutes to fry. Ours came out cold. The sauce had a extremely weird taste and looked as if it had been mixed with something that was a different color. Finally our food comes. I ordered the same food as my uncle but mine had a special ingredient. A long piece of rolled up hair placed carefully under the patty. It was disgusting. I work in a restaurant right now and have for 10 years and I've never seen anyone go to the lengths she did to ruin our lunch. When she came to the table to ask how everything was I informed her of my problem. She didn't look concerned at all but actually amused. There is absolutely nothing funny about hair or body fluids in your food. The manager came to the table and tried to see if there was anything else I would like but I was already turned off by the service and then the hair. He apologized (something she did not) and really did try to make me happy but my problem was our server. I couldn't help but feel as if this was racial because I am black and my boyfriend is white. I kept seeing how she treated everyone around me. I will not be visiting this location again and neither will my family. Corporate will be hearing...
Read moreUsually you can't go wrong with Chili's for a decent meal, fair price and late nights when everything else is closing or closed. Welp This has to be one of the most disappointing Chili's I've ordered from. I understand accidents happen and with a lot of orders mistakes can be made but burning shrimp on one side and feeling like it's ok to still place them on top of someone's Alfredo (intentionally flipping some over on the other side) was just disrespectful. In addition the noodles were gummy. I ordered through door dash so i called the restaurant directly and explained what happened. The lady who answered the phone cut me off mid sentence and told me to hold for a manger. No apology or anything... i called around 10:35pm (ish) the restaurant closed at 11pm. Only to be place on hold for 15mins then hung up on. I called back and told the lady i was on hold still eating on a manager and she laughed and hung up. I called back 3x's after that to have someone pick up, not say anything and hang up. I called from another number finally a lady name "*" picked up who informed me she was a manager. She was nice and offered to send coupons but couldn't undo the frustrations and disappointments of the night. Times are hard, some of us are just getting back to work. I don't like wasting money. I was working all day and that was my first real meal. It literally would've took about 6 min to recook the shrimp. If i didn't travel for a living i wouldn't eat out at all because this was ridiculous! They made it bad for all...
