This was a pleasant surprise in downtown Asheville. I would highly recommend giving it a try. 1. They offer a variety of panini sandwiches and house made chips. We tried the salt and vinegar chips and also the Italiano chips. The chips are sturdy, crunchy, and they hold up well under the dry seasoning and balsamic vinegar. We really enjoyed eating the chips. The paninis were paninis. They were just good but nothing really special about them. 2. The service was excellent. We were greeted quickly and they were patient with us even though we arrived 30 minutes before closing. They explained our options and also made helpful suggestions for our kids. 3. The ambiance is pretty cool. To me it gives off French coffee shop vibes. You can look over the counter and watch as they prepare your food. It's a smaller space but it did not feel stuffy or crowded. I think they've done an excellent job utilizing the space.

First time here and we waited about 30 mins for our food after ordering. There weren't many people in there with us. Our server was a bit strange and didn't understand we wanted to order some chips first while we were deciding on what panini we were gonna order. She was gonna bring everything out together. That is not what we wanted. So we scraped the idea of a separate order of chips to start. The table we sat at was incredibly small and uncomfortable. I ordered the Italiano panini with upgraded Americana chips. The food was ok but the smell in the building was terrible. Smelled like old fryer oil. The smell is stuck on my closet. It's the worst I know because I used to work with fryers. There were humidifiers in a corner with a broken arcade game as well. So the atmosphere was terrible. Dark and dank. I don't see myself coming back.

The Gourmet Chip Company truly serves the best chips and paninis I've ever had in my life. I got the pressed truffle parmesan panini and Italian modena kettle chips. The ingredients all tasted so fresh, and the flavors are incredible. We stopped by during our trip to Asheville and were very impressed with their friendly customer service and excellent COVID policies. No mask, no service; and they sanitize all the tables and chairs after each use. One customer came in and was snippy with the hostess on Halloween because she had kindly asked the customer to step outside with his children and put their masks on. The hostess handled the situation with much grace in the face of this man's hostility. We have recommended this restaurant to our friends who will be visiting in December, and we would love to return one day too.

I’m not quick to give any business a bad review especially during COVID but I really am still offended hours later about how poorly we were treated earlier today. My husband and I walked all over town today and spent lots of time and money giving the local shops a try. We stopped at this place to try the potato chips. When we went inside the hostess asked if we wanted to dine in or take out. So we said we would try 2 different kinds of hot chips to go. We ordered, paid, and tipped .Then we were told to wait outside they would bring them out. Great.. beautiful day. So far so good. Here’s where it goes to hell. They have a few metal tables and chairs out front of the business. Nobody in site.. not one customer. So we figure ok we will sit down at their tables and eat there right? WRONG. The hostess comes barreling outside and rudely says I need to sanitize these tables. We stand up and my husband says can we not eat our food we just ordered out here? Her reply... if you wanted to eat here you should have said dine in.. not take out. And I TOLD YOU to wait over there by the pole. Wait !What??? We just ordered food from your establishment and not only can we not sit here but we are being talked to that way . NO THANK YOU. I said we will never come back here ,worst customer service EVER, you are rude. We walked across the street and threw the chips in the trash . NO THANK YOU. There is a certain way to speak to your paying customers, and that’s not it. We all get it , the rules are different now. Everywhere. But there’s a certain way to speak to a customer and just a human being in general. Thank you but...

OK I ve been here to this place a lil over a year ago before Covid and it was all great. So yesterday for Mother's day my husband brought me and my 4 teenagers back .We live 2hrs away. The i.side tables were off limits due to covid but there are 2 small tables out front on the sidewalk. We made it there 10 mins before closing the greeter informed us as we walked in to order. I love the variety and quality of the chips they make for you there and variety of toppings. We had to wait only 15 mins. Out front one of the tables was finishing up so as soon as they left I had my 3 teens sit there. Then the greeter came out and said we couldn't sit there as they were going to move them inside for closing. We got our order and went 2 stores down n stood in front of a empty building to eat. What made me mad was then. The two employees came out after they closed and sat at that table for at least 30 mins to an hour smoking and chilling talking. I THOUGHT IT WAS RUDE. Especially on mothers day. We only needed it for 10 minutes. My kids would've helped carry the tables I'm for them. I will not ever be taking my family there again. So disappointing. But I'm still going back to Ashville, We will just take out money elsewhere prob. Across the street to...

Made a trip into downtown, specifically to try the wide variety of gourmet kettle chips, on the recommendation of a friend. Set in a trendy boutique strip, it was easy to find on street parking and pay the meter with an app (no change necessary). The store front is easy to find and neighborhood seems safe to walk in, at all hours. We sampled two varieties: The Americana and The Belgium Caramel, both priced at $5.50 and made fresh before your very eyes. The kettle chips are the perfect thickness to hold the assorted toppings. The Americana was good, but not at all adventurous. The bacon was sweet and crispy while the two cheeses provided a creamy tang. A single portion was more than filling. The Belgium Caramel was ridiculously delicious. Sweet potatoes, chocolate, bacon, caramel...yes, please! Boylan soft drinks are served here. If you've never tried them, order up a Birch Beer. We spent a total of $16.85 for two orders of chips and two drinks. Our cashier/server was generously tipped, as she has customer service/engagement perfected. If you're in the area, Gourmet Chip Company is a great side trip tor some noshing when...
