Mam’s Happy Thai Express — Restaurant in Ashland

Extremely disappointed with my green shrimp curry!!! I am doing two separate reviews, one five stars and three star, to show how great this place CAN be but also get the staff's attention to value each plate they serve.

The staff was SO nice, the kitchen was hustling and working hard and clearly understaffed, but that doesn't excuse selling a curry to a customer with...no curry?!

Check the photo. I did my best to give them the benefit of the doubt to saturate the rice with the two teaspoons of curry sauce I was given. The rice, shrimp and veggies showed incredible potential. But I was completely bummed and bewildered to be served rice with veggies and shrimp and no curry.

EDIT: Apparently I can't do two reviews.with one account. My wife's Pad Thai was the best she's ever had. Amazing. And I know my curry would be too if they didn't...

I recommend this very casual place for a bite to eat. The service was great and the food was served right out of the wok ;) This place has six tables and we were lucky to grab an empty one as the host was wiping down the table. The server was hustling and bringing out food as soon as it was plated meaning no dishes sitting around under a heat lamp. The place was busy the evening we ate there. While we waited...which was not very long...we could see customers coming in & out for takeout as well. We enjoyed our dishes. The flavors are not strongly what I remember of my visits to Thailand; but the food is good nevertheless. We ordered two stir fry dishes. Next time we will try...

This place is the real deal: it is the most authentic Thai food I have tasted outside of Thailand. Maybe there are a couple nice Thai restaurants in the Bay Area or Seattle that might be on par but this little hole-in-the-wall is definitely up there in world-class cuisine.

The decor, menu and even the paper plates all scream Thailand. The cuisine really transports me to a Thai island. I don’t think I have ever had such authentic Thai food in the continental US before.
