Sisters Sans Gluten Bakery — Restaurant in Ashland

I was disappointed with the lack of communication and customer service. I used the website to order a cake, about a week in advance. After not hearing anything for 3 days, I emailed the "customer service department" (which is one of the two sisters) who told me that they were booked with orders that came in a 1.5 - 2 weeks ago and coulnt fill my order. [I followed the instructions on the website, which said 48 hours advance notice required]. When I pointed out that their website is misleading- I was told "we can't guarantee every order will work/we'll be able to cover it" and "sometimes it just isn't a great fit for timing/product." Cute home business, I see that their website still lists "48 hours notice for custom orders," don't expect that...

This review is long overdue but my husband and I often think about it, so I feel like I should let people know. These people were kind and communicative. However, we were very disappointed with the cake and cupcakes. We were told it would be a tiramisu flavored cake because we wanted tiramisu but there was honestly NOTHING tiramisu about it. It was very bland and dense leaving us very sad. They did communicate with us that they had never done one before which may have been a red flag. We just didn’t get the sense that they really made effort for what we wanted. All of the cakes, pastries, and baked goods are to die for! Gluten-free or not, everyone will find something that they like -- and will inevitably love -- here. My personal favorite is the always deliciously sweet and tangy gluten-free Lemoniest Lemon Bars. There are other smart, inventive desserts here too, like the Vietnamese-inspired Pandan Cake or the Earl Grey Lavender Cupcakes.
