On my dad's request I purchased tickets for the New Years Eve Bootlegger's Ball. I came across the page through a Google search and purchased them the same day, on November 1st 2019. I didn't notice the fine print at the top of the page which said the event was actually for New Years Eve 2018 and not 2019. I just assumed a venue wouldn't keep an outdated event page active. I was wrong.
That's right, even though the event had passed 11 months prior I was still able to purchase tickets through their website. Unfortunately I didn't noticed this until the evening of the event when I took a second look at my tickets. Sure enough it said that the event was on December 31st, 2018 and not 2019.
I called and asked if I could still attend that night's event because I already paid the venue, and the person I spoke to (Jack) said that I would have to purchase new tickets because the ones I had were invalid.
I asked if I could a refund and he said sure, but asked if I wouldn't mind waiting until the next day because they were busy setting up for the party. I agreed, so gave me his personal cell and told me to text him the next day to get a refund. I have since texted him 3 times and called the venue twice. I have received...
Read moreThe actors (aka: the hosts-servers-bartenders-janitors) were wonderful. The performances were so well done: great acting, captivating, easy to hear... they would have been 5 stars alone. The the stark seating area and the drinks were disappointing. I was expecting maybe some small round tables to set drinks (in real glasses) on and to allow the audience to see each other. A speakeasy atmosphere it wasn't. And the cocktails, wow! The blasé and unimaginitive drinks were half full with melted ice and nothing like advertised. I think less quantity and higher quality drinks, served at the begining and middle of the show would be, along with some almonds and popcorn, fantastic. Another bonus: there wouldn't be the OLCC issue and maybe 400+ plastic cups wouldn't be going...
Read moreThis is a fun venue for seeing bands and acts perform in what could be considered a glorified gymnasium. The acoustics are pretty poor with most of the audio engineers focus on how good the audio is at the audio booth. Just about everywhere else has a weird reverb from the back wall and not enough sound isolating paneling is installed. Also the sound system being a reduced wall of sound makes it tough to go loud without the subbass drowning out the mids. Again a sound trapping problem. Fun for general events but Ashland could use a basement venue with epic...
