Just had the oddest experience. At the suggestion of a friend, went to this restaurant to try their espresso martini. It was a busy night, but we were early to our reservation at another restaurant so we decided to stop by. We let the host know that we were there for a drink and he said he would sit us at the bar but we would have to wait. We were ok with that and were served the drink while we waited. Later we get seated in the bar area at a high top table and who I assume is the manager ask if we’ll need menus and we say no we are just here for a drink. He told us if someone came for food he would ask us to move but sit us at the bar. Minutes later he brings a couple over and awkwardly says this is your spot to them so my partner and I scramble because they didn’t provide a seat for us at the bar. The couple apologizes to us (they didn’t need to do that, it wasn’t their fault) and we just stand there. I’m annoyed at this point and just go to the POS and just ask him to check me out. The bill is still $41 for just drinks which is fine but I didn’t get an apology or anything for the weird situation. I paid and left and that was that. I understand I wasn’t going to be a full meal paying customer but I didn’t ask for the high top and was clear about my intentions up front. They also put us in such an awkward situation with the other couple. Although the drinks were good and the food looked good…it’s the strangest service I’ve ever received and definitely not acceptable for the price point. I would...
Read moreLast night, my family and I had dinner at Campo de Fiori, and it was a wonderful experience. The food was excellent, and our waiter was friendly and attentive, making the evening very enjoyable.
Since I’m in Aspen for a meeting, I decided to book the restaurant again for dinner with my colleagues and friends the next day. What started as a reservation for six quickly grew as more people decided to join. I called the restaurant several times to adjust the number—first to eight, then ten, twelve, and eventually seventeen. Despite the challenges of accommodating a large group, especially during Aspen’s busy ski season, the staff was incredibly helpful. They rearranged tables and ensured everything was ready for us without any issues or complaints.
The food lived up to the high expectations set during my first visit. The calamari was perfectly fried, the porcini risotto was rich and flavorful, and the grilled lamb was outstanding.
Compared to the French restaurant next door, which charges significantly more for food that is disappointing at best, Campo de Fiori is a much better choice and has a much better ambiance. The food quality is undoubtedly one of the best I have had for Italian food, including the ones in Italy.
The restaurant management deserves special recognition for fostering such a warm and welcoming environment. All the waiters had a clear can-do attitude, going above and beyond to ensure everything worked seamlessly. We will be coming back to Campo De...
Read moreAn OK family-style Italian spot, but don’t expect high quality. This is a friendly neighborhood feeling Italian restaurant with a variety of popular Italian cuisines, but it’s not neighborhood-cheap prices. 2 adults and 2 teens ordering 4 mains and 2 appetizers spent $210 before tip. We started with the grilled octopus which was excellent and the Burrata cheese salad, also good. The specials of Italian Branzino ($38) and Veal Parmigano ($36) were unremarkable (dry, over cooked, flavorless) and only half eaten. Two pasta dishes, mainstays and loved by our teenagers in most Italian places also were deemed not worth the effort to finish. The unfinished four plates merited no questions from the server who cleared and ask if we wanted dessert. Umm, no thanks! Seems like a popular place that has cut back on quality raw ingredients and chef wages in order to boost profits (maybe rent is crazy high?). We won’t ever go back and would not recommend unless you are looking for a lively Italian restaurant with pleasant, well-meaning front of house staff, a nice ambience, but over-priced poor...
