The food and beverage manager for 12/13/2024 needs a major attitude adjustment and training on guest relations and accommodations. I was at a private event that Friday night with an open bar. I was the only one standing in line behind four people in front of me, who were altogether. They all were handed beverages, and when I took one step forward to the counter, the food and beverage manager said nope bar is closed. I kindly asked for one more beer and tried to explain that I had been standing in line. I looked at my phone and it was exactly 11:30pm at that moment when I was in conversation with him. He is someone that views everything black and white, and has no consideration otherwise. The two bartenders, other patrons, and even the promoter of my event all begged him from 11:30-11:32pm to just hand me a beer and he wouldn’t. There was no one else in line. It’s people like this that cannot assess an environment and ruin the experience over a beer for one person that was in line before the cut off time and at the counter on the cut off time. I hope he feels really proud of himself that he got his employees, the promoter of an event, and a guest upset over one beer. It will be because of people like him that promoters will choose another venue for the Christmas party next year. The club seems lovely otherwise. The bussers and the man at the coat check...
Read moreThis venue is lovely and elegant however the older gentleman behind the bar, I presume the bar manager, unfortunately provided us the most unpleasant and negative experience at the holiday event we attended as guests. I don’t believe anyone asked for the Grinch to make an appearance but there he was, behind the bar. At such a fine establishment you expect to be blown away with southern hospitality and top notch service. This unfortunate man was not allowing the classic drinks to be served in the proper glassware. For whatever reason he was stingy with serving bourbon in lowball glasses as it rightfully should be served. Luckily he had a stellar bartender, Tamara, whose dazzling personality and kindness made up for his short comings. The gentleman at the front door/coat check was also a gem. I recommend the club re-evaluate the talent they currently have as management behind the bar. There are far better places to host your event in atlanta that can provide the full package, including outstanding service...
Read moreThe Capital City Club is an Atlanta instituion wothout comparison. More than anywhere I've visited, it embodies the class and tradtions of the "Old Money" southern aristocratic class. Founded in 1883 it is one ofthe oldest private clubs in the nation. Even today it keeps true to its roots as cell phone use is strongly discouraged.
The interiors are beautiful and make tremendous use of hardwood paneling and marble. You can't help but feel the history of this place and I wasn't surprised to read that captains of industry and US presidents are among those who were/are members and guests.
Keep in mind that the club is members only so you'll have to come with a guest or attend an event here. If you are fortunate enough to visit make sure to sample the Captial City Club saltines! They...
