This place is INCREDIBLE. I was on my first business trip, and in Atlanta for my first time, looking for a place that wasn't overwhelming, but wasn't the same thing I could get any other day. I tried a few other places in Atlanta and always found that something didn't quite mesh with what I was hoping for after a long day of being out of my element. Normally, I base my choices off of reviews and such, but there really haven't been any for this magical place. Instead, I took the chance and, I'm humbled to be the first reviewer here. Walking in, the atmosphere is classy but laid back. It's not silent, but you wouldn't have to (or even want to) yell to talk to your neighbor. There are multiple areas to sit and even though I chose the back bar, I had no trouble getting a seat (granted, it was about 6:30 on a Thursday). Immediately, the bar tender and his apprentice greeted me and took my drink order. Throughout the process, these two treated me like a friend, checking in often (but not too often) and making just enough small talk that you could tell they would lend an ear if you needed someone to listen. In this case, I wasn't looking for that, and they picked up on it, making sure to keep contact but without being overbearing. Unfortunately, I only remember one name (Scott, he was new), but the main bartender was so warm and nice that I can only assume you couldn't miss him. They offered suggestions willingly and answered every question with ease. Speaking of what you really came for: the food. To say it was delicious would be an understatement. After having a difficult time trying to decide between several wonderful sounding dishes, I decided to go for what I thought would be a safe, tasteless bet-the steak and french fries (I even asked for A1 ahead of time just in case I had to add some flavor). Let me tell you, once I got that steak, I nixed any previous notion I'd had about tastelessness! It was divine! The sauce they added had just enough flavor to add to the steak, not overpower it. It was cooked impeccably well and I started taking smaller and smaller bites, just to make it last! Needless to say, I didn't even touch the A1 (I'm serious here)! Moving on to the fries, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were actually covered in Parmesan cheese-ACTUAL CHEESE, not just salt flavoring! They were wonderful! I ate the entire portion (and that's just not like me). They were consumed slowly while watching ESPN and listening to the general chatter emanating through the restaurant. Not ready to leave this oasis, I opted for desert. I chose the Heath bar pie and a cup of coffee. The pie - amazing. A solid block of vanilla ice cream with heath bar pieces covering the top and a cookie crust on back and bottom, it was borderline orgasmic. Tasting the coffee, I expected the normal fare; too weak, too strong, burnt, etc. However, it was, yet again, perfect. Strong enough to wake the senses, warm enough to stop the chill, and with a perfect chocolate aftertaste (this was just a cup of brewed coffee folks, no espresso or cappuccino here). Keep in mind, throughout this entire experience, both bartenders kept me in mind and well supplied, and when I was through, I felt that I'd made some new friends that might remember me on my next visit. It was extremely comforting when everything for the last few days has been nothing but new. I'm hesitant to even post this review as I'm terrified that Henry's will become overrun, but they deserve the nod. And for those wondering: no, I'm not staff, I'm not a writer, I'm not anything besides a traveler looking for a temporary home. Try it. I bet...

The Hosting: truly 0 out of 10. First, I came here on Saturday and noticed a line outside. I am alone and willing to wait but i noticed on the sign by the front saying “please wait here to be seated” so after waiting for a little bit, I see the host coming around and then asks me, “how many?” I said, “ just one, me.” Just nods his head and just walks off. Didn’t write my name down. Doesn’t tell me how long the wait time is, just walks off. So i still decided to wait and see if the lines would moving along because finding a bar seat or table for one wouldn’t be that hard. No. I waited for good 30 mins so I left. I came again on Sunday afternoon and was greeted by such an intense amount of sass it was so funny, this tiny tiny host of a man, greets me with a pen in his hand, click clacking with a little notepad in his other hand and goes “how can i help you?” *intense sass, I replied “just need a table for one” and then the host just looks at me, up and down and just walks off, says nothing, just walks away. Right by the waiting area there were these other gentlemen standing there who were talking to the host, i assumed they were friends to the sassy front of house greeter, one of the men ended up asking me “would you like a table outside or inside by the bar” to which I said “which ever one comes up first, it doesn’t matter to me” their reply was simply “okay” and then continued talking amongst themselves. Me standing there just befuddled at the experience, I noticed the sassy host to my right, gesturing me to follow him. Doesn’t come back to get me but tells me follow him from at least 20 feet away. Finally i sit down to where he seats me and then flips the cleaning cloth by my face and begins to clean the table. I felt absolutely disrespected. Like why do they have a toxic gay person as the host in the front.
The service: a solid 6. out of 10. Honestly. Good job Blake for showing me kindness in the sea of invisibility, because nobody showed up for 20 mins after i sat down.
The food: a 5 out 10. Really could use some work with some flavors, i ordered the chips and salsa. Never in my life i have seen tomato wedges (yeah not chunks, wedges) in a salsa, i thought that was wild. The tortilla chips were well seasoned and had no residue of oil in them. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. I asked for no bacon and no pickles. But the rest was fine, the menu mentions of a chipotle sauce which was nowhere to be found, chicken was very dry and bland it was served with parmesan dusted fries which were good.
Overall. I give them 3 stars. I am being very generous, thanks to blake being a great wait-staffer to make my experience...
Read moreThis is my second time at this restaurant. I haven't been inside yet since it has been Henry's, only because I love sitting out on the large, nice, wooden patio. The patio is great for people watching as the restaurant is in a good location in Midtown. After attending a meeting across the street, my friends and I decided to go for a late dinner (late for me anyway). I ordered root beer but the server (Ty) told me that they had Ginger Beer, being daring, I figured I'd give it a try. If you like a rather bold taste o ginger, then you will love this drink, as I now do. I was totally surprised at how good it was. My only issue is I wish it came in a larger size, instead of a 7 oz bottle. Squeezing a slice of lemon into the bottle will definitely enhance the taste even more. I had the wedge salad, which was as good as it was the first time that I had it, but being a bacon lover, I will make sure to ask for extra bacon next time. Just remember, if you order the wedge salad, they do not drown it with dressing which the amount of dressing that came on the salad for just enough for me. As I remember that childhood cartoon commercial, "Don't drown your food!" I then ordered the BLT Club, which was okay, but the Parmesan fries are delicious! Oh! the spicy ketchup is delicious also! I had a snack earlier in the evening, so I did not order dessert, as I was stuffed. Our server, Ty, was cute and kind of friendly but overall I would give her 3.5 stars out of 5 stars. She was pleasant, not the nicest server I have ever encountered, but by far not nearly the worst server either. Last, the parking is good directly behind the building, but if you can't find a spot behind the building there is usually plenty of parking in the adjacent lot, just make sure to pay for it because I don't want you having any issues with your vehicle if you park in the lot and don't pay, which is not Henry's parking. If for no other reason, you should definitely check this place out because of the patio, the Ginger Beer, and the Parmesan fries. One suggestion though, the better your company at this place the more you are likely to enjoy this place, especially the patio on a nice night. Let me know...
