Hudson Grille: “Famous” in Name Only
After four days of indulging in Atlanta’s celebrated food scene, where service has been nothing short of outstanding and meals have left us genuinely impressed, we arrived at Hudson Grille, encouraged by its inclusion on the “31 Famous Atlanta Foods to Try in 2025” list. Let’s just say that streak came to a screeching halt.
The Heisman Burger, presumably named after something prestigious, arrived looking ready for a high school cafeteria tray. The beef patty was shockingly bland, with zero seasoning to suggest it had seen even a hint of care in the kitchen. The bun? It won’t be winning any awards either, unless “Generic Grocery Aisle” becomes a category.
The fries were cooked to a technically decent texture, which was great, until you tasted them and realized someone forgot to invite the salt. Or any seasoning, really. A theme was emerging.
Then came the “award-winning” lemon pepper wings, which we triple-checked on the menu in disbelief. We’re still looking for the lemon. And the pepper. If there’s an award for false advertising, perhaps that’s what they meant.
The blue cheese dressing had the consistency of something that had been watered down, possibly to stretch a budget or maybe to help it pour like a beverage. Either way, it didn’t help the wings. Or anything else.
As for the service, it felt like we were more of a nuisance than guests. Our server seemed visibly inconvenienced from the moment she arrived. When she dropped off the food and we said “thank you,” she didn’t so much as acknowledge it. Later, when asked how the food was, we replied with an honest “it’s alright”—a perfect opportunity to engage or show some care. Instead, she gave a nod, walked away, and never followed up. No personality, no effort, and clearly no interest.
Having spent 35 years in the restaurant industry myself, I understand that off days happen. But this didn’t feel like a fluke. It felt like a place that’s been coasting on location, branding, and list appearances. Hudson Grille may have made it onto a list, but based on this experience, it...
Read moreSo this review will include reviews of both their midtown and downtown location. Today in particular I ordered Uber eats from their midtown location I refuse to order Uber eats from their downtown location because my order is never. Plus the customer service atmosphere and employees at the download Town location way below standards in any aspect. My Uber eats order was two Megatron burgers two orders of mashed potatoes and one order of broccoli. If you know anything about the Megatron Burger you know the most important ingredient is the candied bacon which both my burgers I ordered queso cheese as my cheese and received two pieces of American cheese and said there were absolutely no toppings besides the pickled red which I called in to personally asked for them to leave off. I also asked for both burgers to be cooked extra well done. I'm not going to say they came raw but the cow was definitely still mooooING!!!! I only received one order of my mashed potatoes a random order of mac and cheese which I didn't order and my broccoli was so Brown and wilted I didn't even bother. When I called to this location to speak with a manager he informed me that there was absolutely nothing he could do to fix my food meaning he wouldn't make me more to change the wrong and he wouldn't issue me a gift card and or refund. It was a simple flat-out I can't do anything to help. Which is also what uber told me. But if I call your establishment and tell you that your kitchen prepared and sent me out the wrong food and give you a chance to make it right and you're only reply to me is there's nothing you can do to help me I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. I actually worked for this company a few years ago in Brookhaven once I moved on I started to notice a few locations close down as well as otherrestaurants around town that were owned and operated by the same business couple. I now know why. If anyone decides to read this and happen to actually care about making it right, (Wishful Thinking) Id highly...
Read moreI've been to two other Hudson Grilles in the ATL area. This is my third. This was hands down the worst experience of the bunch.
When we walked in the door, we weren't greeted. There were three workers seated at the back and they were having a nice conversation apparently. Eventually one woman looked up and yelled "party?" In our direction. Three times.
Ok. We're not off to good start.
The same woman realized we didn't know what she was talking about and decided to walk up to greet us. As she seated us this is what she said: "we're at shift change, you'll have to wait until we have a server for you.". Still not starting well.
Thankfully, a server came over to assist, although he REALLY treated us like we were interupting whatever he had going on.
We're seated. We look at the menu. My menunwas so filthy that I thought I was going to get a staph infection just from touching it.
Wednesday is whiskey flight day. I asked the server about the whiskey flight. He had no idea what I was talking about when it was literally on the front of the menu. He went to ask the bartender for info. He couldn't easily explain it. So I ordered something simple.
Food ordered. Despite not being very personable, the server was very attentive.
While waiting for our food the loud mouthed bartender grew very passionate about every sport in the book. He dropped four Fbombs and a couple other curse words in a five minute span... In front of my daughter. Not cool. (We were sitting in a booth across from the bar & he was very loud).
I also went to the bathroom to wash my hands after touching the menu. The bathroom... Let's not go there.
Now. The good:
The food at every Hudson Grille has been fantastic. This was no exception. The food is spectacular.
Overall... Not a great...
