Classy space, attentive staff, great food … but a couple of kinks to iron out …
We had brunch today at Necessary Purveyor, just on the edge of Ponce City Market, and it’s a beautifully designed and appointed space - bright, modern, and welcoming. The brunch menu hits the sweet spot between breakfast and lunch, with coffee drinks, cocktails, breakfast dishes, and hearty sandwiches.
We shared a chicken cutlet sandwich topped with Caesar salad on delicious bread plus a side of bacon, French fries, and a mocha latte (made perfectly by Chris) alongside an espresso martini. It was all fresh, flavorful, and attractively- presented. Staff were friendly and attentive, with managers circulating and checking in on guests.
That said, a few small things could use improvement. The ordering system is confusing. It’s not immediately clear whether you order at the counter or get table service, and while staff helped explain, clearer signage or a host stand would make a big difference. Prices are also really on the high side, and finally, the ventilation needs work. The open kitchen in the corner lets cooking odors and smoke permeate throughout the space.
Overall, a wonderful spot with thoughtful food/service and a great vibe, and once they fix the ventilation and clarify service flow, it’ll be a...
Read moreStep inside and the first thing that grabs you is the space itself airy, open, and full of natural light. It’s got that minimal, farmhouse-inspired aesthetic that makes you want to sit back and soak it all in. There’s plenty of seating, so it never feels cramped, even during busier hours. Service, though, left something to be desired. I’m big on customer experience, and sometimes all it takes is a simple “hello” to set the tone. Here, the staff felt more reserved, which made the atmosphere feel a little flat. The main reason I came, though, was for the coffee. BigFace Coffee founded by NBA star Jimmy Butler has been on my radar, and I had to see what the hype was about. I ordered my usual vanilla oat latte. The roast itself was impressive: smooth, with a perfect shot that wasn’t too bitter or sour. The flavor leaned a little sweet, but it still allowed the espresso to shine through. Beyond coffee, the menu extends to handcrafted sandwiches, pastries, and even a full bar, so there’s something for everyone. Overall, my experience was good but not great. The coffee lived up to the reputation, the space was beautifully designed, but the customer service kept it from being as memorable as it could have been. If you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth a visit just don’t expect the...

I rarely leave reviews, but Necessary Purveyor at Ponce City Market absolutely deserves the hype. From the moment you walk in, the vibe is cozy and inviting—warm lighting, stylish decor, and a buzz of excitement that tells you that you’re in for something special.
The dinner menu? A revelation. Every dish is a masterclass in flavor and presentation. We started with the little gem Cesar with shrimp and it’s truly one of the best I’ve had in Atlanta. The mains were equally impressive: I had the lobster Mac and cheese, which melted in my mouth and it came with huge chunks of lobster which took the dish over the top. My boyfriend ordered the burger which was so rich it melted in our mouths we nearly fought over splitting the last bite.
Cocktails were inventive and balanced—try the “ATLychee Martini” if you like a floral and sweet combination in your drink. And don’t skip dessert. The crème brûlée was the perfect finale!
Service was impeccable—attentive without hovering, and genuinely passionate about the food. The entire team is absolutely incredible.
This place is going to be the next big thing in Atlanta dining with a little bit of everything! Go now before the...
