Dancing Goats' Decatur location got a great review by us back in July 2012 and the new location in the Ponce City Market upholds the high standard the original location set, while simultaneously offering something new to Atlanta's Coffee Scene.
Here's a shot of the inside cafe area. I loved the baked goods that you can help yourself too! They still have bagged coffee for sale and a fridge with other juices and snacks, like my favorite Arden's Garden smoothies. The inside area is tiny and seating is sparse. If you can, snag a seat at the espresso bar and watch as the magic happens. Otherwise, head outside!
The Decatur location has a fabulous interior, but the PCM location shines with this unique outdoor, screened-in patio. Not only is the space comfortable with the couch swings (seen below), fresh with the 4 exterior floor to ceiling screens that make up the walls, but it also comes with free entertainment brought to you by all the pet owners who brought their four-legged friends along.
This spot it perfect for a good weather day. Ideal environment for meeting up with friends or grabbing coffee on the go. Sitting right beside the Beltline trail this coffee shop sees a lot of commuters, walkers, and bikers. As it's been busy every time I've been there I wouldn't recommend working or reading - too many distractions. The PCM is going to work wonders on the Poncey/Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. I think Dancing Goats has set the bar high for the shops of the PCM. As the shops trickle in and the PCM begins to open its doors I hope the market will follow in the footsteps of this Dancing Goats...
Read moreThis is a great location for a quick stop in the morning and good for hanging out with friends if it's warm enough to use the screened patio outside. The indoor seating is very limited, so if you, like I was, are looking for a place to work and need more than just a pinch of shared table space, I recommend seeing if the main floor of Ponce City Market is open and grabbing a table in there.
The coffee is coffee! My taste buds aren't the most sensitive so I can't give you more than that it was hot and didn't taste burnt or sour, which is fantastic for a 20 oz americano with no cream or sugar. I also had a gluten-free banana nut muffin that had excellent texture and, just like others have said, was not too sweet! I am not gluten free and I wouldn't have known the difference if I hadn't read the label.
Service was quick and friendly! The staff was approachable and clearly had good rapport with their repeat customers, and were cheerful without feeling overbearing to new folks like me. I did not feel rushed to join the line and make a decision, which is important to me (I forget my entire order when that happens).
Parking is super limited; if you're planning on staying longer than 30 minutes, you'll have to park downstairs at Ponce City Market, and at that point you may as well plan for a whole day of exploring the area once you've coughed up the dough and typed in your license plate, card info, and the star signs of your last three paramours just to be allowed to hang out in...
Read moreI loved hanging out here. I would go religiously. However, the odd thing is the tall guy that alludes to an attitude of why are you here again. He would be extra friendly to the guest and acts monotone and stand-off-ish every time i go. I always threw in a tip but nope the same unwelcoming attitude. I mainly ordered a latte with oat milk and sugar free vanilla. Well one day due to the horrible customer service i decided to start ordering expressos and save about $5.00 ( by bringing my own non dairy milk and eliminating the sugar free sweetener). So instead of paying $7 -$9 for a latte i would pay about $3.00.
I went in today and asked for an expresso over a small cup of ice. They charged $1.00 extra for a quarter cup of ice. HUH ... make it make sense because a cup of ice in most places is free. I'm so good i started supporting Dancing goats after meeting Ren & Julia years ago at a local event in midtown. Well no more will i be a regular here. I found two new spots Buzz Coffee & Winehouse & Black Coffee ATL. They don't have as much space but the customer service is genuinely impeccable and they don't overcharge for a...
