Match Bar& Oven — Restaurant in Atlanta

I will not be back here. I came here years ago and had a great time. I decided to come back since i was in the area. The restaurant is completely different from service to menu to atmosphere. The upstairs has a rooftop view which would be nice if the service and atmosphere matched. Upstairs used to have a big connect four game and also other table games. None of that is there and now They offer hookah, i like hookah but the flavors are very limited. Out of all things they were out of mint and only offered maybe 4 or 5 fruit flavors. I still tried the hookah and i regret it. I smoked it in hopes to enjoy the vibe and atmosphere but the food and drinks took so long, the hookah was not enjoyable to smoke after a certain point. My waitress was not knowledgeable on the menu and did not seem focused at all during the whole time she served us. I asked questions about the menu and she was saying complete opposite of what the menu described. For example i asked what the lamb chops came with, and she responded 4-5 lollipops. I said well the menu says it comes with 3 but i was referring to sides. She said “oh it doesn’t come with anything”. So 3 lambchops for $25 with no sides. So I ordered an arugula salad, lambchops, turkey pepperoni pizza, and brussels sprouts. Also we got a regular margarita and a flaming margarita (both mango) . The drinks were way too sweet. The food took almost an hour to come out. When it did, my salad had no arugula what so ever. It was a bowl of romaine lettuce with big chunks of cheese and dressing. When i brought it to the waitresses attention, she said “yeah i looked at it and i was going to say something but the chef only has romaine down there, but i can take it off”. And then she proceeded to take the salad away and walk off. Well there goes one of my sides i was pairing with the lambchops. The lambchops were charred, The brussels were good at least and the pizza was okay. Shortly after the food came i asked for the hookah to be taken because i no longer wanted it. I was brought a check for the hookah and had to ask twice for it to be taken away from the table. 18% gratuity was automatically added for the hookah making it raise from $45 to $54. Our check was eventually brought as well. $70 after the salad was removed. Which also wasn’t done initially. DO NOT GO HERE. DISHONEST. POOR SERVICE. POOR OWNERSHIP. I’ve been to this place twice. 1st time was fine. Noticed the menu said the gratuity was included. No problem. Came back months later. Had poor service from a waitress, who during my meal, came up with a slice of pizza in her hand chewing asking if I still needed the red pepper flakes. At the end of the meal. The waitress came with a handheld device for payment & told me specifically that gratuity WAS NOT included. I responded by saying the menu says gratuity is included. She then told me that it wasn’t. So I tipped her on top of the bill & she hurried off without letting me see any info on said device or offering a receipt. The next day I called the establishment to be text a receipt because the total wasn’t adding up if gratuity wasn’t included. I was text the receipt & NOT ONLY WAS GRATUITY INCLUDED BUT THERE WAS A RANDOM CHARGE FOR $20 that was not made. I then when back to the establishment the next day to explain this to the owner. While to some credit, he did refund the $20 mystery charge he wouldn’t refund the additional tip I added or the gratuity. His reason being he said he wanted to get the waitresses side of the story. Mind you he never got my contact information from me to follow up & there’s no way I’m tipping on top of gratuity for service I wasn’t satisfied with. Doesn’t even make logical sense. Will never go here again. Ever.

Update as you can see from the owners response he’s calling me a liar. THEIR WAITRESS APPROACHED THE TABLE PIZZA SLICE IN HAND WHILE CHEWING AND ASKED FOR THE CRUSHED PEPPER & LATER TOLD ME THERE WAS NO GRATUITY INCLUDED. AS SOMEONE WHO USE TO WORK AS A SERVER I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE & WOULDN’T DO THAT.

DO not come here. I would have zero no stars if i could. I attended a women's brunch here recently. 1st the service was extremely slow and the waitress forgot to put in everyone's order. 2nd they serve you on paper plates with plastic utensil and plastic cups. 3rd. We were upstairs at the Tiki bar and it was dirty. 4th the menu they sent out to the host had different prices than the menu they presented us with therefore we were overcharged. The server had run my card when I noticed that the price was different with 18% gratuity added on. I then pointed it out to the server, asked her to void it and run it for the correct price. I was then approached by a female manager that decided rerunning my card again would be too much and offered to comp my meal and return my funds. I agree to the blessing and all was well so I thought. The monies were never refunded to my account. I then called the restaurant and got the owner who said he didn't know anything about it and really didn't seem to care. He figured out who the manager was on staff that day and said she would call me back to straighten it out. Well its been almost 2 weeks and nothing. I had to dispute the charge with my bank. SO not only does the owner hire liars he too is a liar with a bad attitude. I don't recommend this place. Soooooo many better establishments in Atlanta that will handle a small situation immediately with class instead of running the risk of disputed charges and bad reviews. I am also a business owner and a very successful one at that and I'd never treat my customers like this. I'm telling everyone that I know to stay away from this place. I hope it was worth it....
