I visited this black owned establishment on Monday, September 12, 2022. It is located in the Municipal Market on Auburn Avenue. They do have parking right behind the Municipal Market. They do have set rates for specific time frames based on how long you will be parked. I entered the Municipal Market and it was clean, historic, and well-maintained. It has a variety of shops including: meat markets, a grocery store, a coffee shop, and various other types of cuisine eateries. The other types of cuisine include: Vietnamese, South African pies, Mexican, and Soul Food. I decided to try the Philly G Steak cheesesteak food stall. I have tried the location at the Chattahoochee Food Works. Once I got to the counter, there was a very nice lady who took my order. The Philly cheesesteak stall here was clean, modern, and bright. They also have a 100 A health score, which is excellent. Especially since this location has been open much longer than the Chattahoochee Food Works location. I also saw the owner come in with food supplies. I have seen the owner several times as well at the other location. I love that the owner is very hands on and directly involved with the day to day business of running two locations. I ordered a Philly cheesesteak with all of the fixings including: Onions, Provolone cheese, and Bell peppers. The meal also comes with your choice of chips and a drink. I chose Doritos and a Sprite. They also have slices of cake for sale. The cake looked really fresh and delicious. I decided to purchase a slice of cake for $4. It appeared to be yellow cake with white icing and gold edible ornaments on top. It didn’t take long for my order to come out and when I received my order, I sat in one of the various dining areas to enjoy my meal. Just like at the other location, the meal was quite tasty. The Philly cheesesteak was delicious, savory, and well seasoned. The sandwich had an ample amount of meat that complemented it so well with the melted cheese, peppers, and seasonings. This Philly cheesesteak stand is just as great as the newer location. I also like that their combination meals do include chips and a drink, so you don’t have to pay extra for that. They also give you a great size sandwich, which if you’re not that hungry is enough for two people. Because I was quite hungry this day, I had no issue putting away this whole sandwich by myself. I love that between the two locations there is steady consistency. This consistency is in the quality of food ingredients and taste of the food. At the other location, they do sell Philly water ice. I don’t believe they sell the water ice at the Auburn Avenue location. I did taste the cake that I purchased and it was moist with a sponge like consistency. It wasn’t my most favorite cake that I’ve had, but it was just decent. The icing was soft and not overly sweet. Also the gold ornaments on top of the icing were edible, because I did taste them. I wouldn’t not recommend the cake. I would definitely say if you don’t like very spongy cake, then don’t purchase it. I’m used to yellow cake being more concise and less spongy. I didn’t particularly care for the consistency. However, Philly G steaks does not make this cake. They have a lady bring cakes and they sell them on her behalf. I did not take a star off, because this is not a direct product that they make although they sell it. I think it’s quite smart for Philly G to come down to Atlanta and have Philly cheesesteak businesses. There’s not a huge market for it in the metro Atlanta area. Keep in mind that you can validate your parking ticket when you’re done at the Municipal Market. You do get an hour of free parking. I didn’t have to pay for parking because I stayed less than an hour. If you do stay longer than an hour, you just have to pay the difference after your free hour of parking. They have the best Philly cheesesteaks! Not only does each location have great reviews, but also great health scores. I would highly recommend everyone in Atlanta try Philly G steaks. Whether it be at the Howell Mill or the Auburn...
Read moreAs our children might say, “These cheesesteaks slap!” and pass the “grease (or juices) in the bag” test! We were impressed. They offer Beef, Chicken, and a “Salmon Jawn”. The owner who was not present is said to be from Philadelphia.
Having spent lots of time in Philly searching for the perfect hoagie throughout the years, we must say that these sandwiches are quite flavorful Atlanta! (They come with/a free bag of personal sized chips).
Located inside of Atlantas own, “The Works” co-op on Chattahoochee. Artsy environment. Nice area to take a walk before or after. Lots of other hidden gems inside of co-op in case the person you decide to bring along is in the mood for cuisine from some other part of the world.
We visited on more than one occasion and some of the staff were not as warm and enthused as others but the food was great.
Ample Tables, Seating, and Free 2 Hour parking. Great for family, friends, and possibly even a date! Their Chicken Cheesesteak has made our top 3 Cheesesteaks in the Atlanta area...
Read moreFirst of all, we waited and made the drive to eat here. They have THE BEST in the A! Got there ordered 2 Phillys, one with American cheese and another with provolone. We did a little waking around and came back about 20 minutes later to retrieve our order. I opened mine and could clearly see the order was correct. Bae ordered his and it looked like the cheese was missing (He ordered American and we ain’t know it was white) He told the cook/owner and even though the cook examined the sandwich and noticed that it was correct, he gave Bae the sandwich back and offered to make him a COMPLETELY new one. My review is not because this is hands down THE BEST Philly in Atl. My review is for THE SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM A BLACK MAN OWNED BUSINESS.
Best philly cheesesteak outside of Philly, add them to the Michelin Review...
