I wanted to make this a compliment sandwhich but unfortuntely it's going to be more like upside-down toast.
Let me start off saying the ambience is incredible. Hip leather couches with (for some unexplained reason) Japanese table reservation cards as far as the eye can see. It is a very pleasant place to hangout.
At the front of the room are some of the most expensive looking speakers I've ever seen, which is ironic because most of the music that comes out of them is so "analog" it sounds like it was recorded on a sleep deprived can of beans. Playing low quality recorded twee hipster rock on $10k speakers is a bit of a laugh and worth checking out in itself until you try and order something.
Of the 6 3D-printed beatnik staff working the bar, 4 stood at the wall doing nothing but avoiding my eye contact for 30 seconds before realizing I wasn't going away. I was then given a menu of equally "ironic" drinks and made the mistake of trying to order a margherita. One of the holograms looked at me like I asked them for another 4 years of Trump as the other 5 stood smirking, tattood arms crossed in anger. Apparently possessing all 3 ingretients for this increbiely basic drink does not infer the ability of a single one of the 6 "laid-back-man" bartenders to cobble together this staple drink.
In summary, if you want a nice vibey place to spend the evening, this is the perfect place to go if you bring your own music, drinks, and positive attitute. If you want to get emotionally spit on by english majors trying to order anything sane at a bar, this is the perfect place to go.
I am giving this my lowest rating...
Read moreCoffee by day, nightclub at night. Bathrooms are to the left of the bar, down the hall, code required.
I've been during both times more than once. It is a hip crowd both day and night. You could wear something hipster during the day and something edgy or cool at night, if you want. The staff is generally pleasant and helpful, but definitely not friendly or cheerful. The drip coffee here is VERY good. It is strong. The high ball cocktails are refreshing. The regular cocktails are very strong so be careful! The night part has a few different crowd management techniques. Sometimes they have seating available with service. Sometimes there is a line out the door. Ask the hostess/bouncer when you arrive how it works that night. They do sell a small bites food menu at night, but treat that as emergency food. Best to eat dinner beforehand at LLoyd's or another local restaurant in Inman Park. It is a fun outing for a birthday party of 6 people or less. A lot of people have dates there but I find it to be too loud for a date. Groups of 6 or more would struggle here because the space is limited and seating is in small groups. There is one big table but it is not likely that there would be a lot of space available at...
Read moreI walked in and was immediately IDed at the door? Which would be fine bc I may look young but I am 28 years old if it was a bar and if everyone was being carded that would also be fine, but that was not the case I watched other people walk in and go sit down before being asked anything where as when I walked in she met me at the door and stopped me from even sitting down. After she checked my ID she told me I could sit which I’m confused if it’s generally a coffee house why couldn’t I just sit down in the first place?? The bartender that served me was a girl with black hair and I don’t know it gave rude. I ordered a drink and a shot of espresso and right when she gave me my drinks she asked me if I wanted to create a tab or close out and when I told her close out because I wasn’t going to be ordering anything else she immediately asked me for my card and put the receipt down a min after I got my drink. I didn’t feel like she wanted me there I’m not sure what the problem was but my entire experience felt rushed. Drinks were good but not worth the way they treated me there, 0/10 will not be...
