Quod Revolution et mortuus est.

I recently went to Revolution Donuts, based on the reviews you would think these were some of the best donuts of all time. I have to say, I was very disappointed, the donuts and coffee were not up to the hype.

Firstly, the available donuts were about a third of the donuts on the menu, disappointing. I tried six of the donuts available, Orange Pistachio Yeast, Carrot Cake, Glazed Yeast, Chocolate Cake, Almond Flour w/ Chocolate Frosting & Hazelnut.

The yeast donuts were not good, they were tough, chewy, and greasy. The cake donuts were a bit better, although still far too greasy. The only good donut out of the bunch was the almond flour, but it was the most expensive.

The coffee was mediocre, not bad, but not good, Starbucks does it better.

There are several root causes of greasy food. One is not maintaining the correct oil temperature. If the temperature drops too low, the crust forms slowly, allowing the food to absorb more fat and become greasy. The older the oil gets, the more oil breaks down, and less water rejecting (hydrophobic) it becomes, the less hydrophobic oil becomes the more grease is absorbed, in turn making food turn greasy and ruining its crispness. Lastly, when you fry food, bits and pieces get left behind in the cooking oil. Filtering these food particles is important not only to extend the lifecycle of the oil, but also to protect the color, taste and smell of the food.

Finally, the atmosphere of the the shop was annoying; it was staffed and patronized by those smug millennial alterna-kid types who's every other word is; "like!", one patron used the word, 'like' so many times, I was tempted to slap it out of their mouth. I am sure there are tastier, less pretentious donut shops out there.

In conclusion, the...

🍩 I've waited a long time to finally try RD. Timing was always an issue. ⏰️

• Customer service was subpar at best. No 'welcome', no warm greeting, just 'do you know how many you're going to get?' 👎 Not even a 'let me know if you have any questions' etc. Checking out at the register wasn't super friendly either(demeanor). I had cash on me and was told, 'I can accept change, but can't give any'. So, you'd just keep my $5 ? Instead, you'll take a credit card charge fee as a business? 💰 I mean, if you keep taking in change like that, you should have plenty to make change. Just silly.

• 🍩 Now the donuts: super dense and chewy. Not light and airy...for everyone who's never been. Plus, very little flavor to the donut itself. I understand this is typically so with yeast donuts. So you better like glaze & additional toppings (the only thing you'll taste). I'm a fan of yeast donuts, guess it's execution here 🤷‍♂️

• We tried the S'mores, peach glaze (couldn't pick up any peach flavor), vanilla, and apple fritter( which was pretty decent ).

• 💲 Also, it was $14+ for four donuts! Yikes!

• From start to finish, what a disappointing experience. As the saying goes, you have one shot at a...

I just got back from ordering 4 donuts here and to me they were overpriced and just okay. I got the cinnamon sugar donut, the vanilla bean and the apple donut balls. The donut balls tasted like slightly sweet bread. The cinnamon sugar donut wasn't anything special and the vanilla bean donut tasted overwhelmingly sweet, like it was doused in sugar.

When I first walked in, there was a bit of a line but it moved quickly. Since it was my first time here, I looked through their display case and saw that they didn't have a big selection and just picked the donuts that I thought looked best. Anyways, four donuts ended up being $10! That's pretty crazy.

Then, I have an allergy to nuts and soy. I didn't know that the majority of their donuts are vegan until I went home and looked them up online. But all of the donuts I ate gave me an allergic reaction. It wasn't until after that I discovered that they make a lot of their donuts with almond flour and use soy in their icing.

Anyways, I was kinda hyped to try this place because of all of the good reviews. Even if I didn't have a soy/nut allergy, I didn't think their donuts were all that great. Don't see what the hype is about this place. I'll stick...

Love that they have a gluten free dairy free option!! As someone who can’t eat dairy or gluten, finding good sweets can be hard. I do enjoy the doughnuts here - my main complaint is there is only 1 GF flavor a month - and it rotates the flavor every month. Most of their items are vegan. It would just be nice if they offered multiple GF options at the same time. Also if they had a GF yeast based one - most of the donuts here are cake based, which is not my preference. There’s always a line but it moves fast. The workers are pleasant. My other recommendation is to add some type of loyalty or rewards program - such as every 8th doughnut you buy, your 9th is free. They are a bit on the pricier side - $4.50 for tier 4 (all GF ones are tier 4). They have tiered pricing - so the simple glazed yeast is cheaper than the mote specialty ones Of the GF ones I’ve tired, the caramel Samoa is my favorite - tho I missed the month which had the chai flavor GF!

Stopped by for a treat this week and absolutely love the whole experience. Street parking was super easy and I walked in and was greeted right away. The selection looked amazing and I ended up ordering the lemon cello old-fashioned and the cinnamon roll doughnut. Both of them were absolutely amazing. I also ordered a peach lemonade to drink and that barely made it home. Overall, I would definitely come back and I’m looking forward to my next visit.

Came here on a rainy Friday morning and ordered a Bacon Caramel Yeast Doughnut and OMG it was more than I could have ever imagined. I am obsessed with doughnuts and have had my share of caramel/maple doughnuts and this one takes the cake. The dough had a great soft texture and slight crispy edge to it. The caramel has this bacon essence which was incredible and totally transported me to my childhood memories of camping. I loved how it had a bacon taste without it having loads of big bacon pieces on top. I also ordered a hot rose cardamom latte with almond milk and it’s simply amazing! Very flavorful, spiced, & comforting. They also had cake doughnuts in addiction to yeast. I was disappointed there was no indoor seating allowed? I wondered over to the Krog street Market and found an indoor seating area. For people wondering about price, Doughnuts had price tiers and mine was $3.50 and small Chai was around $5.
