RACIST OWNER!!!!! DO NOT GO TAPA TAPA OR APRES DIEM. HE OWNS BOTH PLACES. I have been going to this place for over 2 years. I had built relationships w/ the staff. They were all cool and down to earth. Even before I started going to Tapa Tapa, my boyfriend and I were regular customers at Après Diem which is the sister restaurant to Tapa Tapa. I have never had any problems and everyone was pretty cool. Well just recently I found out the owner of Tapa Tapa, and Après Diem, who name is Andy has a problem w/ black people being in his establishments. I was sitting at the bar on a Friday night, like I have done plenty times before. Had just finished drinking and was sitting there talking. His manager/bar tender Tina asked if I wanted another drink, I replied no. She said okay and I continued to talk to the people at the bar. Once people started leaving the bar. He told Tina to tell me if I'm not going to buy drinks the whole night, he does not want me in his bar anymore. Which I found strange b/c I been going there for over 2 years, and even continued to go and patronize his business after his first manager that I knew quit working for him. And he even use to come up talking to me and all along he didn't wont me in his bar. He sat around smiling as she told me what he said. Shortly after that my waitress friend came out and ask what did he say to me. I replied he didn't say anything to me, he had Tina say something. Well to my surprise the owner had told the waitress he don't like me in his establishment. He has never liked when me and my boyfriend came in there but he just didn't say anything, And he doesn't want me back in his bar anymore. I don't get free drinks, I pay for everything I get at Tapa Tapa. And me and my boyfriend have spent a lot of money in both of his restaurants, so I was insulted when I heard that. Shortly after that I heard him tell his manager Tina to go close out the tab of the ladies on the patio b;/c he was ready for them to leave. When I looked outside on the patio, it was 3 black females sitting outside eating and enjoying their wine. At the point I realized that he has a problem w/ black people at his establishments. I told his new manager (Tina) who has been knowing me since I started coming there I would no longer patronize his business. When I was leaving the owner Andy was sitting at the computer laughing b/c he has gotten Tina to do his dirty work and now he does not come off as the bad guy. On my way out I stopped and asked him why couldn't he have come talk to me. He didn't like that I asked him, and called me a suburban redneck, and I know he called me that to avoid calling me the "N" word. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO APRES DIEM OR TAPA TAPA. THE OWNER IS RACIST!!!!! ANDY DOES NOT LIKE BLACK PEOPLE EVEN THOUGH WE ARE THE MAIN PEOPLE THAT PATRNIZE HIS RESTAURANTS. DO...
Read moreI visited the holiday pop-up bar with a few friends (there was 4 of us).
The attention/server (Juliette) was horrible she was rude from the moment we got there in which she ignored our table and passed it several times without asking us for anything until we got her attention.
We asked if a song could be played in which she rudely yell “oh girl no” at us.
After this she brought us our check and we completely understand if they can’t split the bill however, when I put my card she picked it up and picked up other cards as well. She was with my card for about 5-10 minutes all for her to run the other cards and come back and request to see my ID to make sure it matched the name on the card. She stated that the “system was requiring her to do this” all she did was compare the name on the card and the name on my ID and went and ran the card and came back. She didn’t put anything “in the system” as she claimed she needed to do. Additionally, I paid with my debit card and I have NEVER had this happen anywhere else even with checks or in store purchases much higher than this one.
This was clearly a race issue as the four of us were Latino (in which we were the only Latinos in the building) and she did not ask any other tables at any point during the night to verify their card with their ID. I felt completely disrespected as if I wasn’t going to pay the $189 tab that we had.
I would never go or recommend anyone to go here again because it was made obvious that they thought were thieves or weren’t...
Read moreJust a little on the pricey side, but the food was very good! The drinks were also good, I had the 'Alibi', a unique mix of whiskey, port wine, and walnut bitters that was well crafted and strong. We had the tuna tar tar, beef brisket tacos(so good), shrimp taco, brussel sprouts, and finished it off with some amazing churros, chocolate, and Dulce de...
