I can promise you NO ONE pumped this place up more than me. Every single time I go in, I’m eating while sharing photos and my review of the food. But today was different. Just left in fact and my mood went from wonderful day despite heading to an evening nanny job (which I love by the way) to not even wanting to order. I walk in the door behind an AA female. I watch as the woman who looks like me that works there smile at her and the second she saw me? All that changed. Her entire demeanor. I went to the restroom then came out to order. No smile and snappy when I kindly asked what was in the bowls up front with the edamame. By that point I had lost my desire to even order. I pray the owner…not a manager, looks back at any footage he may have. It was very deliberate. Somewhere, in some way these restaurant and retail workers must have heard the new woke/work assignment as “You will treat one race better but in order to do so? Turn on any Caucasian female. Even if they walk in with a smile, patience and are kind. Make them pay for something they’re not aware they’ve done” in other words. Where in THE world did you management get this misconstrued? That you now have to knock down one race to lift up another? I’ve not only had it happen to me but have discussed it with friends that look like me to see if they’ve experienced it too. They have. So much for treating everyone the same right? There levels and rankings now on being treated special or like a human being? Really? Of course this will come across as me hoping she treated the lady in front of me bad. Of course! That’s for those with zero amount of ability to think outside of any box. Oh and went I asked the gentlemen in there who the manager was he said it was him. I let him know what I just experienced and he quietly said “I’m sure it was nothing personal”. Hmmm 🤔 interesting. Does he in turn say that to everyone who feels “offended?” I’m a tough skinned female but I’ll be you know what if you think I won’t call out behavior such as this. Oddly it comes from women that look like us. So basically they’re trained to see a “Karen” coming thru the door and have apparently learned we caused the training to have to be revamped to begin with. It’s nuts! She just met someone who called her out. I keep saying I’m going to start secretly recording so others can see exactly where I’m coming from. I’ve left a voicemail...
Read moreAlthough it doesn’t look like a hole in the wall, this place is The Perfect neighborhood hole in the wall with the best surprises and consistently super-good food. The only bummer is having to decide what to get because everything looks and Does Actually Taste yummy. Anytime of day, any day of the week, you are going to have consistently great food, soups, healthy salad combinations, and dinner entree options. Every time I’m there I am kinda shocked Atlanta was so lucky enough to have such a spot. It’s a ‘healthy option’ without feeling like the ‘healthy option’ food or a ‘healthy option’ type place. I love how they use vegetables in ways I’ve never considered - I always say I’ll try my own version at home but never do. You will feel comforted, you will feel full, you will feel good after your meal. This is Not the always-slightly-disappointing Whole Foods hot plate where each option is just missing Something. I mean this is no bs, awesome ingredients, awesome food thoughtfully prepared. It is as comforting as a nice bowl of soup on a cold winter night - with yummy cornbread on the side. Thank you, Metro Fresh. We are grateful for...
Read moreI like the food, but got booted today, while coming to see a movie (mainly to support Landmark -- could have seen it elsewhere). I blame the businesses at the mall for allowing such draconian enforcement of the booting rules: I was with my friend today. He wanted ice cream; I wanted Starbucks; we decided to get ice cream first, bring it back, have Starbucks coffee; and then later see the movie (Lamb). We left the lot for like 10 minutes, to get ice cream, but returned empty-handed (I didn't want to wait in line). Went to Starbucks, and then Trader Joes (to get cheese, to sneak into the theater to have with wine -- wine purchased at theater). And then I returned to my car, and found it was booted. I told the woman I had left the lot for only like 10 minutes, told her about Starbucks and Trader Joes, and she said, "I know... we saw you." The bill was $75. I'm not going to spend another dollar in this mall again (and Landmark can go out of business for all I care) -- and I spend a considerable amount, including at Metro Fresh (I have been eating there at least once a...
