It was the morning after a big day in the big city and I was still adjusting to the southern heat and humidity. There was only one way to get this over with and get used to the new environment: go out there and sweat it all out. I chugged as much water as my stomach could plausibly handle and pulled on my slightly ragged but ever-stylish jorts, since this was a trip I pulled off with a small carry-on only, and stepped outside shirtless and began walking. My family mentioned that I’d see the big paved bikeway/walkway just near the bridge, and indeed I found it quickly. As I picked up the pace to a steady jog, I basked in the comfort of how wide and spacious the beltway felt. Being from a smaller city, I was awestruck at the plethora of smiling faces all around me, all of us there with presumably the same goal of drenching ourselves in our own perspiration for the effect of better physique and the rewards of endorphin-inspired pleasure. Now about a mile into my run, I suddenly realized how soon I’d head home and how this was really my only chance to prance around on this beautiful concrete pathway of pleasure. And prance I did. First just skipping a bit, and then fully jumping up toward the sky with my arms aloft, as if I might boost myself several meters high. I smiled and laughed, I twisted and I spun. I soon turned around to head back, sweaty as ever. My objective was accomplished and I’ll never forget: Atlanta’s big beltline pathway, the sweat, the smiles, the prancing along in front of the trailside brewery. Absolutely delightful, and highly...
Read moreIn Atlanta there are various "Beltline Trails". This one focuses on the hits of midtown. From the start of Piedmont all the way to Krog, you can take the trail safety while exploring various restaurants. About 3 miles out, the land is paved and relatively new. The story goes that the Atlanta BeltLine Eastside Trail was thought up from 1999 from a Georgia Tech student who then saw it to fruition 13 years later. When walking you hear people explaining the history of the park along the walk. You can rent out scooters if you wish. There is some construction along the way as they continue to build new businesses, condos and apartments, but its great for roller staters, bikers, and joggers. Its about 3.5 miles long of flat land but you can extend out if time permits. Feels safe at all times.
Great things: -many restaurants -restroom breaks along the way -links to Piedmont park -the sides have various artwork from the...

There are always things popping up and changing on the Beltline, and it's great to be able to walk from Piedmont Park to Old Fourth Ward Park, and end at Ponce City Market while strolling past historical landmarks, new public facilities and restaurants, and revitalized buildings. On a warm day (and even on cold ones), it instantly brightens my outlook seeing people out and about; running, jogging, walking, biking, rollerblading, skating.
The art installations are fun to look at and admire also.
The best part is the rentable scooters - they are...
