Terrible experience. When I walked in the entire floor was soaking wet with no wet floor signs, I almost slipped several times. It was a humid day and clearly the floor had been mopped but not dried.
The food was terrible, the fries had a weird coating and tasted overwhelmingly like sesame oil. The ketchup had the same sesame oil flavor.
I ordered a margarita. The manager walked my food over to me and when I asked about my drink she said they were busy. It was an empty restaurant, it was just me and a family eating outside.
I finished eating and then remembered I had ordered a margarita and they never served it so I went to the counter to ask for a refund. Instead, the manager pointed to a drink that had been sitting on the counter melting and said that was it.
I felt awkward so I took the watered down drink to the table. At this point I didn’t even want it. She walked up to me a few minutes later and sarcastically said, “I’m so sorry you had to get up and grab your drink instead of me dropping everything to bring it to you.”
I was surprised by her rudeness, if I had known what the drink actually looked like I maybe would have recognized it sitting on the counter melting? How long does it take to walk a drink to someone or at least shout here’s your cocktail? So weird and passive aggressive or just plain...
Read moreYumbii has finally opened, and it was well worth the wait! Situated in an unbeatable location right off the beltline, it offers good value for your money. The ambiance is trendy with great service to match. The food is superb, especially the SESAME FRIES! I foresee this place becoming quite popular.
Personal Experience: I tried the sesame fries (a must!) and also ordered two tacos: Fried Chicken and Spicy Pork. The fried chicken taco, enhanced with jalapeños slices, was my favorite. The spicy pork taco, however, surprised me that it included BBQ sauce (I should've expected that, but wish the menu had mentioned it), which cut any heat, and it was milder than the Fried Chicken. Perhaps "BBQ Pork" would be a more fitting name. Still, the flavors were on point.
While I'm not one for loud music or big-screen TVs during a meal, the restaurant strikes a decent balance for those who enjoy such an atmosphere. Personally, I opted to dine outdoors to make the most of the lovely day. However, I heard they're planning to install outdoor speakers soon - fingers crossed it won't overpower the serene environment, and make it hard to enjoy a meal there. All in all, I'm eager to explore more of their offerings and will undoubtedly...
Read moreI’ve been a fan of Yumbi for years. I remember going to their food truck 15 years ago, then Hancook off of Howell Mill, their now closed down location off of Juniper (Takorea), then their location in Tocco Hills. I got to give it to them they are so darn consistent no matter where you go. Even the sweet tea tastes the same, it’s incredibly strong. That’s how I like it! I love the Yumbi menu so I was overjoyed to get one closer to me.
Their fries are some of the best in the city, so crunchy and the spices are wonderful. The beef is the only way to go, it is seasoned so well and scrumptious with every bite. The best thing on the menu is the beef nachos, easily my favorite in the city, if you are into Korean flavors you will love this. I had the Philly and my wife had the burrito. All very solid. Their queso is perfect.
I’m a big fan of the space, wonderful for a fast casual sit down experience. It’s right off the beltline and they have plenty of outdoor seating. Food came out at a reasonable time. We will definitely be coming back here for...
