Full disclaimer: Unfortunately, I never got a chance to try Tiki Thai & I don’t think I ever will. I’m really upset about the customer service at this location from the host up to management & if the service eating there is anything like what I experienced then maybe they did me a favor.
I booked a reservation for Valentine’s Day two weeks in advance, wanting to get a jump on things & so I called the restaurant. Nice gentleman took all my information & let me know they will reach out to me two days before to confirm the reservation. Didn’t think anything of it until the day came & no one reached out. I called several times — not sure if they don’t have a host at all times picking up calls but why am I calling multiple times just to get through? Finally got to someone and essentially they told me if I didn’t get a email or call by now, then you probably do not have a reservation. TWO DAYS BEFORE A SPECIAL HOLIDAY. I spoke with a couple of other employees & one told me they will reach out to their manager right away about this inconvenience & he will reach out either Wednesday night or Thursday morning. Yep, you guessed it…. No one reached out. I called legit 10 times in the morning and a person finally picked up and told me to call around the night shift when a manager is in. Called then and a speed talking, rude manager told me that he knew the situation & there was nothing he could do about it. “Policy says they only take reservations through website, not through call”… did the host not know that when he took my reservation?
Granted it’s a learning lesson for me, probably shouldn’t have waited this long to check but no one can accommodate this experience at all? Nothing but a fake sorry? Im very disheartened about my experience & lack of accountability/mismanagement of the whole situation. But newsflash TikiThai. There’s plenty of other great aesthetically pleasing restaurants in Atlanta, I just will not be present for this one. Everything that glitters isn’t...
Read moreI’m not one to usually complain about my dining experiences, but I have to say this was the worst experience I’ve ever had. The menu looked promising, and the restaurant had a nice ambiance, so my boyfriend and I were excited to try it out.
I ordered a watermelon cocktail that tasted overwhelmingly like cough syrup—I couldn’t drink it at all. My boyfriend ordered the General Tso’s chicken, and I opted for the Pad Thai. Unfortunately, the first bite of rice my boyfriend took made him immediately spit it out; it tasted like it had been sitting in a rice cooker that wasn’t being cleaned out properly. The chicken also had a rubbery texture, suggesting it wasn’t cooked to order.
As for my Pad Thai, it was very mediocre and didn’t resemble traditional Pad Thai at all. It wasn’t horrible, but certainly not something I’d ever go out of my way to order again. We didn’t feel comfortable complaining, especially since the menu stated there are no refunds for guests dissatisfied with their meal. This made us wonder if they’ve faced numerous complaints about their food in the past.
To make matters worse, we felt neglected throughout our meal. Our server hardly checked on us, and when we were ready to leave, we ended up waiting a long time to get our check. I had to shout across the restaurant to get our server's attention, as he was busy chatting with coworkers at the bar.
When the check finally arrived, I noticed it was more than expected due to an automatic 18% service charge for a party of two. This left a bad taste in our mouths, as there was little effort made to ensure we had a good experience. It seems disheartening that they highlight a policy against refunds for poorly made food but don’t mention the mandatory gratuity anywhere.
Overall, we left dissatisfied, my boyfriend was still hungry, and we felt completely gipped. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on...
