How do I start? OVER PRICED for UNDER SEASONED food! First, parking is confusing, who ever did the signs they need to redo them and say its valet only. I can appreciate a restaurant like that but at least tell me. I went to be seated but could not until everyone was there; I don't understand that but if its policy then I guess so. I wanted a drink while I waited and went to the bar and it was sticky and no one came to take my order, so I went back outside where I felt like I was on a loading dock but oh well!.. The male greeter who was also answering the phone was mean and dry. I felt then, its not going to be good. Once every one arrived the female greeter tried to seat us at the smallest table for 4 adults. We requested to move and omg we got the nastiest look from this one server I was afraid to sit. Once we finally got seated it took a long time get anything (water), I didn't see where they were too busy but maybe they were ( Idk). I was really feeling hurt because I felt from the beginning it was stressful. I wanted to leave! But I heard so much about this place, I was excited. There was two servers assigned to work with us and the female server noticed I was unhappy and asked is there anything she could do to help, I answered there was nothing. The server wanted to get management but I told her its going to do no good. We ordered the spinach dip and salmon chips as the appetizer and nothing had SEASONING. The dip we couldn't eat because it was so distasteful and pink. THe salmon chips were churchy and that was all, they were put together nicely but had no flavor ( I was so disappointed). I saw the reviews on the chips and was ready to say good things about them as well but now I'm afraid to even order anything close to those chips because they may not taste good. The empanadas were really good but portion size is disappointing. The wine selection was really good so we ordered a bottle and had other drinks as well. I forget the name of the drinks (that was a disaster) to not cry while doing this review, I will just say we ordered some good drinks and some bad drinks. The bar manager brought a different feel to the table but still, I was not happy because of his lack of understanding. I had the swordfish that was cooked perfectly but was swimming in what tasted like can tomato sauce with stuff on top for a color contrast. The swordfish had NO SEASONING! My friend had the lobster bake ziti and he said it was really good but NO SEASONING!! We ordered the chicken with macaroni and cheese but my friend was unable to finish his meal because it lacked SEASONING( how do you under season chicken 🤦♀️)!!! We also had the salmon and rice which looked very pretty but there was NO SEASONING!! In my opinion I thought it was a joke and cameras were gonna come from somewhere and say you just won (smh), I was fooled, back to reality 🤷♀️. I wanted to order something else to try but was distraught from the lack of SEASONING. I think the servers knew I was so disappointed because I didn't really hide the fact the food had NO FLAVOR OR SEASONING!!! I will NEVER FORGET THIS and will NEVER GO BACK! We spent nearly $500 on food and drinks with NO SEASONING!! For this to had been a birthday dinner I should have went to golden corral then maybe someone would have gotten the happy birthday clap. I truly think location is why everyone love this place. The view is absolutely beautiful!! Maybe the real chef was sick and they gave the new one a chance he must have been so nervous he forgot to SEASON the food. I would go back but it's just to stressful and this restaurant in my opinion has to many moving parts for me. I just wanted some good food and not the popularity...
Read moreAttended the Komos Tequila Dinner. This was a "reservation only, ticketed event". Komos is a luxury brand tequila and the owner of Two Urban Licks boasted about the hosting of events at his venue. I arrived to the venue for the event on time. A friend called the venue a couple of hours prior to the start of the event, to inquire about attending. Dwight/Dewayne(the lead host/Cowboys cap) told her he was at capacity. As I walked up to the host stand, he put is finger up to me (to wait) as he negotiated monetary with one of the servers to add an additional 4 guest to the "sold out" event. Strike one and two. He then walked away from the host stand and when he returned, he says "who's next?" As though we're in a butcher shop and as though he did not know I was the next guest. And yes the additional guests were privileged enough to have a 4 seater constructed just for their party. It was as though they had their own VIP section. Next, it was an hour before I was offered my first passed appetizer. Myself and the couple next to me were absolutely appalled by one section of the event having 3 servings before we were offered one. We complained multiple times and all the servers would do is smile and say "more to come". Literally, every server walked the same path and would run out of appetizers before we could partake in a pass of appetizers. They were like horses on a track. Same direction, with no wherewithal to serve the guests that haven't been served as opposed to serving the same guests over and over. It was like Groundhog Day. You know how something is so disrespectfully, ridiculous that you have to laugh and ask yourself, is this real? Yes it was that type of service, mind you, everyone paid the same price for this event. (Well except of the privileged 4).
Logistically, the area for the event was too small. I was seated on the side where the vendors were set up and once the tables were open for tastings, we were constantly bumped from the excited tequila goers. So yes, the space was to capacity and perhaps if Dwight had not negotiated his side deal, there would've been room for attendees to mingle as opposed the hovering over our backs.
Lastly, I was out of there after the final tasting, or so I thought.... I go to retrieve my car from valet and the young black gentleman who gave me my valet ticket on arrival, approaches me after he as retrieved multiple vehicles that were requested AFTER me. He asks me, what kind of car do I drive, what does the key look like and what color is my car. I have to describe my car, my keys and my"woman veteran" tag before he connects the dots. Okay so now, Im really done. We all know the valet scammers in Atlanta. Who wants to hear that their car has been clearly mishandled and stored? At this top rated restaurant? The valet gentleman states he as been there 3 years and offered no apology, just a head nod to my complaint and "I'm not going to charge you". Ha!
Komos tequila was superb and I would attend another event. However, I will never, ever patron Two Urban Licks again. From the beginning to the end, the service of the venue was not conducive to the luxury tequila brand or experience.
Do not host your even here and single black...
Read moreI want to start this off by saying the staff was AMAZING. The service was excellent, friendly, and extremely helpful—I truly couldn’t speak highly enough of it. This was our first visit, and I came in with fairly high expectations based on other reviews.
Unfortunately, the food was… okay. I think this is a great place if you’re looking for some cool appetizers—the oysters were great! Unfortunately, we were served six oysters when most places serve 8-10. But the major issue of the night: I left hungry. I ordered the Hunter’s Dinner, which left a lot to be desired.
I want to say that I understand at this level of restaurant, the kitchen can become overwhelmed with the volume and complexity of orders. My sympathies go out to the cooks, because from what I received, it seemed like the focus was more on aesthetic and speed than taking the time to ensure the food had soul and was of high quality. For a chef who truly cares about the food, I imagine that could be a nightmare.
The venison was admittedly tender on the outside, which was nice—but the deeper into the bite you got, the tougher the meat became and it was under-seasoned. I understand venison is a gamey, muscular cut with low marbling, but when a chef is given the time to prepare it properly, it can be a wonderful, juicy, tender cut of meat.
The sausage? Honestly, besides its tenderness and juiciness, it really wasn’t much different than a Jimmy Dean sausage. I say Jimmy Dean, because a Jimmy Dean sausage would have been a bigger portion than what I got.
The sweet potato was very mushy. That could work, but the texture didn’t pair well with the rest of the meal. To add insult to injury: the sweet potatoes were SO small, you could have sworn they were the little ones you find at the bottom of the bag.
The broccoli was cooked way too fast. The floret itself was mildly enjoyable, but the trunk was woody—again, something that could have been avoided with more time and care in preparation.
The sauce that came with the meal was very good. Unfortunately, the venison had to be drowned in it to be more enjoyable—and there wasn’t even enough sauce to do that properly.
Again, this meal had all the hallmarks of a kitchen staff likely pressured to prioritize aesthetic and speed over genuine quality.
I’m sure there are dishes on the menu that meet the high standard I would expect from a restaurant like this. The thing is, to my understanding, the Hunter’s Dinner is somewhat of a favorite and a signature dish—which is exactly why I’m expressing such disappointment with it.
Would I come back? Maybe. But as many have come to learn, this city is full of incredible restaurants, as well as plenty that prioritize the “vibe,” aesthetic, and speed of service over the actual quality of their food. For the $100 price tag, you’re better off at one of the many roadside smokehouses that line Atlanta’s streets.
Again—to the wait staff, excellent service. To the atmosphere, it was fine. And the food?...
