Chez Frites was the highlight of our trip to Ocean. The restaurant has a warm Parisian feel with vintage French posters, soft lighting, and a lively bar. We sat in a burgundy corner booth that set the perfect mood for dinner. Our server Jacob was fantastic and provided excellent recommendations. We started with scallop crudo in the shell with lime, passionfruit, and hazelnut oil, which was fresh and full of flavor. For mains we shared the steak frites and the lobster frites. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with béarnaise, and the lobster tail was tender, sweet, and much larger than expected. The fries were golden, crisp, and unlimited, and Jacob always seemed to appear with more. For dessert we tried profiteroles with warm chocolate sauce poured at the table, along with a bright and tangy passionfruit tart. Both were excellent. We ended the evening with cocktails at the bar and kept coming back there the rest of the weekend. Chez Frites truly feels like Paris at the Jersey Shore. As huge Stephen Starr fans we found ourselves disappointed. The typical charm is lacking which is understandable to some extent at a casino, but the food is where it drops off. To base a menu around unlimited fries I would have expected high quality, but instead these were crispy and thin and overly fried. The steak, salmon and lobster were all plopped down on plain plates with no flair. Our mouths were overwhelmed by the salt content of every piece of the meal. If you’re looking for a Dandelion, Continental, or Parq experience here you unfortunately are not going to get it. And yet the price tag per person was higher. The wait staff was wonderful, communicative, and very attentive. The bathrooms were clean and pleasant. The front entry was tiled gorgeously with an adorable loveseat to match. The desserts were great, but still paled in comparison to other Starr restaurants. I’m bummed and hopeful that this team can turn things around with this clear feedback since they just opened.

I was really impressed with both the service and the steak—and honestly, that’s what matters most. The steak was spot-on: cooked to a perfect medium with a beautifully seared crust, flavorful, juicy, and surprisingly tender for a NY strip with very little excess fat. Definitely a quality cut. Our server was excellent—attentive throughout the meal and even went out of their way to replace the Béarnaise sauce after I mentioned it wasn’t to my taste. A small gesture, but it made a big difference. Between the steak and the service alone, I’d absolutely return—and I’d like to bring my wife so she can try it as well. Being such a limited menu, I knew what i was getting myself into. That said, not everything stood out. The salad was very plain, and I wish there had been at least one alternative dressing. The fries were much better than expected, but since I’m not really a fries person, I didn’t end up eating many. Next time, I may just bring my own dressing to liven up the salad.

HELLO Everyone:) Let me start by saying this is GREAT!!!! never heard of this name b4. I always went to this other place to get my lobster tails over ten years.. FINALLY a seafood dinner that was great. Also to put that restaurant in a casino is a great idea. So for all that doesn't think it is a good idea rethink that because it is!!! It is a fast step in to a great restaurant CONVENIENT is the key. That is the way you look at it!! Also The fries where GREAT, not over cooked at all, I looked around and nobody had over done fries. Also the STAFF was EXCELLANT!!!!!!!!!!! Mr. Joseph and everyone and I mean everyone was Excellent. Do not mind me saying so PLEASE do not be cheap with a Tip, the staff works hard to make sure everyone is satisfied. O yes dress your best, lets try to keep this place classy where others are lacking. ** THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE PLEASE HAVE THIS RESTAURANT OPEN MORE DAYS. I would love to have my lobster more than once a week and the fries DE LISH!!! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! MORE DAYS OPEN...

We had such a wonderful visit to Chez Frites! Our waiter, Luis, was absolutely on point the entire time friendly, attentive, and always one step ahead of what we needed. Everything we could ask for, he made sure to take care of. The food was just as impressive. I had the filet mignon with fries and a shimmy sushi sauce, and it was absolutely amazing perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. Every bite was a treat! A special shout out to John, the manager, who truly went above and beyond. He came by our table several times, noticed my water glass was empty, and without me saying a word, said “I’ll be right back,” and filled it himself. You rarely see that kind of hands-on care from management. It really showed how much pride they take in their service. As we were leaving, John made sure to stop us again to ask how everything was, which wrapped up the experience perfectly. Overall, fantastic food, top-notch service, and genuine hospitality.
