Atlantic City: The Glittering Gem of the East Coast

Have ate here in the many years ago when food and service was great…… but now NOT SO GREAT They charge a 15% automatic gratuity, that’s probably because they know that’s the only way how to get it based on service and food. It seems based on the new management, the food/flavor and tailored for “American” taste buds and……you know what that means… 110% Do not get the their Pho, the fill it with 90% noodles and 10% meat. When asked for extra tendon, they forgot to give me the side. On top of that, the Tendon was non existent as the protein they put in the bowl. I purposely didn’t eat any tendon and took out and lay it out just to prove a point. The rice dish that came out was also no longer good. POINT BLANK. Food is absolutely does not have the correct Vietnamese authentic aroma. Best thing you can do is just order drinks to go, because you can’t mess up a can of coke right? Clearly if anyone with some emotional intelligence and paying attention to their customers, they would’ve seen my aggravation and easily resolved the situation but failed to resolve the situation. DO NOT RECOMMEND

Authentic, delicious Vietnamese!!! Honestly-best Vietnamese restaurant in the tri-state area. Every dish hits the mark for authentic taste and perfect flavors. The pho is a strong staple. The chao tom was delicate and just perfect texture and flavor combination. The surprise hit was the banh canh. The soup was very homey and comforting and the noodle was a clear and chewy. The namesake chicken rice dish is outstanding and totally worth being the star of this authentic Viet restaurant. Update February 2023: we came back here and ordered all the usual dishes and Bo Luc Lac (shaken beef), and bun Bo hue (spicy beef noodle soup). Both were insanely delicious and AUTHENTIC. Tastes exactly like the restaurants in Little Saigon, California. The beef was perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly with a little pink center. I love this place and totally worth the 2+ hour drive.

This has been on our list for years. When Pho Sydney was closed one random day, we finally decided to check it out. (Despite what you might see in search results for Vietnamese food in the area, many are low-rated, or some sort of modern or fusion-y type joint that I’m not about.) The two that always seem consistently well-reviewed are Pho Sydney and this, Com Ga.

Just thinking back - I’m again reminded of just how much this place sucked. A standard Pho Dac Biet, the traditional Pho that has all the meat cuts - the one thing they really ought to get right … was so disappointing. The broth was lukewarm - the first no-no for me. The bowl was on the smaller side - again, a let down. But moving on … the broth had no depth or flavor. It’s impossible to fail on a broth if it’s really been cooked for hours with loads of the classic ingredients. So, I concluded that they’re definitely taking shortcuts. Noodles are standard but the meat, tendon, tripe - all subpar in portion and quality. They give the bare minimum of bean sprouts and basil .. and the service was blah and lacking. AND - yes, like others have said - they charge gratuity automatically, and a service fee for credit card. With no dedicated parking lot, this place was all in all - a total fail. I’m really curious as to how the local Vietnamese population are calling this place a favorite. What am I missing here?! Unfortunately, even if there are no options in this section of the city - we will never go back. (Pho Sydney is currently closed until 5/15 and we went to our other fave Hu Tieu Mien Tay. Worth the 15 min drive away from the casinos. Family-owned, good food and such...

I’m not sure how this restaurant gets a rating of 4.2… We came in with 24 people and they sat us down. We barely looked at the menu and felt a bit rushed already when the server came and asked what we wanted to eat and drink. Okay, we made our orders. The food came out. We ordered pho special, it was very bland. There was no flavor to it. We ordered a viet ice coffee with condensed milk. They didn’t bring it out until we had to mention it AGAIN. The viet ice coffee was strong and barely had condensed milk in it. The server gave us a few of those small portion sriracha packets (I know there is a short storage for sriracha right now) but seriously? How are you giving to give us a few sriracha packets when there is 24 people? We finished eating and while we were in the middle of paying.. This lady (either the owner or manager) asked one of our tables which is (the kids table), to go outside when they are done because there are other customers waiting. That was very rude and unprofessional. We are customers as well. We’re paying for the food, it’s not like we’re trying to mob the restaurant.

This was our first time and WILL BE THE LAST TIME we’ll step foot into Com Ga Ninh Kieu.

P.S. Take those seafood meals/plates off your website if you’re no longer serving seafood. You’re giving customers like us high hopes, but low...

my family and i stopped here during our trip to atlantic city. we loved that there were a lot of food and drink options. unfortunately we felt like the food was okay. the portions weren’t bad but you can most definitely get more for your money at pho sydney. tip was included which is okay, great for the servers but they didn’t even serve out water?¿ here are some things we ordered and our thoughts about them:

banh xeo: 6/10 we ordered 3 which was heavily filled with bean sprouts rather than shrimp and pork. the batter was not authentic and is more orange. for 3 averaged sized bang xeos, it was $48 :/

papaya smoothie: we were hoping for fresh papaya but we should’ve asked… they tasted like fruity pebbles more than fruit?

cafe sua da: 9/10 was great if you like it a little bit on the stronger side, definitely had to order another to go (:

avocado + durian smoothie: 8/10 if you like a stronger durian taste, this is a good pick!

banh canh: 8/10 pretty good but there was so much broth that everything was just swimming around.

mi xao gion do bien: 9/10 pretty happy about the portions and amount of food. really great for sharing

beef short rib:...
