Best thing here is the Lemon Pepper Whole Wings.
The servers prompt you to let you know it will be a little wait because food is made to order....Fine..Cool. The food looked good from the reviews so it should be worth it.....Wrong....
The food took almost a hr to come out. The wings were very good. Very crispy and very flavorful. Perfection. Now on to the platters. One platter was stuffed salmon with mac and cheese and yams. The other platter was salmon with shrimp, mac and cheese and greens. Both served over rice.
Whoever is cooking in the back on a Saturday needs to be fired. Everything lacked serious seasoning and flavor. The mac and cheese was white......no real cheddar in it and taste like pure noodles out of boiling water. No salt no pepper no nothing. The yams were okay you can taste a little brown sugar. The rice was hard and lack serious flavor for what it was supposed to be. The salmon was the best part because it was fresh. That's it. It also lacked serious flavor. Had seasoning on it but nothing worked. Collard greens were very spicy but that was it.
The Lemon Pepper Wings were the best part of the meal. If it didn't take so long to get the food I would have ordered more as the other food was terrible. Very disappointing.
The atmosphere was nice with karaoke, nice lighting etc plus the wings.....everything else was a let down.
Get someone in there with soul. Whoever cooked those platters should be escorted out the premises. Just wow. Didn't even finish the platters. Took a couple bites and couldn't finish the rest.
Bill came to about $110. That was for two platters, 3 wings and 2 bottled sodas.
Go somewhere else if you like your food to have flavor. If you like good music and chicken wings do yourself the favor and just stick to that.
Was so disappointed.....I don't know where the other reviews came from or the authenticity of it but.....very...
Read moreThe food is really bad, as a matter of fact bad is not a good enough word describe how awful this food was. I bought two dinners and two wings. The wings were ok even though they weren’t seasoned good. The 1st dinner was a Turkey Wing dinner, it was not good at all. It might be the worst soul food I’ve ever had. The only soul food that I can remember that was comparable in bad taste is Junior’s in Brooklyn, NY. Their cheesecake is some of the best is the world, but their food is nasty! Anyway back to this Foul Food. The Turkey wings were not seasoned well, the Mac & cheese tasted like they used the wrong kind of cheese and didn’t have enough of it. The yams tasted old and uncooked like they heated them up in a microwave straight out of the can. No butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, syrup, or brown sugar. Then they put the turkey wings over yellow rice. Which I thought was odd, but said what the hell they’re giving me the hookup; 3 sides most places only give you 2. I was sadly mistaken, no hookup at all; the rice was minute rice and it was overcooked! The gravy they put on the turkey taste store bought. The best thing I had was the little piece of cornbread, that I didn’t even know came with the food. The only reason I gave this place a try is, because Kelsey’s was closed. I figured they aren’t that far from each other, this place can’t be that bad right. No, who ever is cook here needs to go to Kelsey’s and watch the chef there to learn how to cook! I don’t usually write reviews. Especially negative ones, especially about my people, because I know this type of stuff can take food out of peoples mouths. But For real unless you guys have two cooks, I don’t see how y’all can stay in business with the food tasting as bad...
Read moreNothing really special about this place, soon after being seated I asked if they had grits and the waitress said yes. Looked through the menu didn't see grits but I took her word for it. 20 mins after being seated she came to take our orders but before she did she let us know the yams weren't ready and potato salad was unavailable. I ordered the d something special fried shrimp and whiting and she asked what my sides were and I said "grits" she looked at me like I was crazy and stated they didn't have grits even tho that was the first question I asked. Ended up getting Mac and cabbage as my sides. All of the beverages are bottle or canned (not many good options). She let us know the food would take about 20-30 mins because it was made to order. By the time we got the food a good 45-hr had passed. ( I don't mind waiting for good food but this food was below average for soul food. The shrimp and fish tasted like burnt oil. The Mac was gross noodles extremely soft and cheese looked nasty. Didn't even have a rich Mac n cheese flavor. The cabbage was delicious! I let the waitress know about the shrimp and the fish. I'm not gonna say she had an attitude but her demeanor did change, she let me know that someone else would be with me. The same waiter ended up coming over and said they changed the oil this morning and it's nothing they can do about it. Another women then came over and was like " so what's the problem?" The waitress explained what I said about the fish and shrimp. The lady then said "well I don't do exchanges or refund so idk. My boyfriend then ordered me lemon pepper wings those are extremely good! Definitely...
